Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Please remember to be careful with your pets this Thanksgiving Holiday!
This is always a tough holiday for our pets. The noise and smell of fireworks can result in severe anxiety, especially for dogs. Here are a few things that you can do at home to help lessen the fear and anxiety.
Many clients ask us if they need to be worried about Leptospirosis and their pet. The answer is YES! Anyplace that there are squirrels, chipmunks, mice, moles, and other backyard wildlife, there can be Leptospirosis. And - Leptospirosis can infect people, too!
All of the pets that we have diagnosed and treated for Leptospirosis have been pets that stay in their own yard or go on walks in their own neighborhoods.
Fortunately, there is a vaccine that will help to protect against several strains of Leptospirosis. Please call us at 216-524-5220 for information on how to vaccinate your pet against this disease.
Many feline patients suffer in silence with their osteoarthritis pain. Here are some signs to watch out for in your feline family member.
Please call us at 216-524-5220 for suggestions on what can be done to keep your kitty more comfortable!
Most cases of ticks reported to us by owners are from walking their dogs along the park trails, the city park, and even from their own backyards!
Be sure to check your pets daily for ticks! Here are some common tick-hiding places:
BUYER BEWARE!!!
We have been seeing an increase in pets coming in wearing fake Seresto collars that were purchased online. These collars usually have little to no flea/tick killing or repellancy properties. Please do your dog or cat a favor, and spend your hard-earned money buying the real thing!
Here is a great You-Tube video that shows a real Seresto collar and a counterfeit Seresto collar being tested for their active ingredients:

Testing real and fake seresto collars PayPal required a test from a professional for the refund. 6 seresto collars were purchased only to find out they're fake and will not protect our dogs. Here...
There have been many reports lately of counterfeit Seresto Collars flooding the market. This has been going on for the past few years, with no end in sight. FOR THE RECORD: Authentic Seresto Collars from the manufacturer *COST* OVER $50 . If you are purchasing a Seresto Collar for LESS than that, the chance that it is a COUNTERFEIT collar is extremely high. Be careful of what and where you buy!

Counterfeit and ‘potentially harmful’ Seresto flea collars for pets seized in Pa. Is that high-priced Seresto flea collar your pet’s wearing authentic – or a Chinese knock-off that could leave chemical burns?
We offer Therapeutic Laser Treatment to the list of options available for the care of your pets. This therapy is used in any case of swelling, inflammation, and pain. It is most commonly used for injuries and arthritis. Treatments last 15-30 minutes depending on the amount of area to cover. Anesthesia is not required. Chronic conditions such as arthritis can be treated by 5-6 initial treatments followed by a booster every 4-12 weeks to maintain comfort.
NEWSFLASH!! -- NOW is the time to be vigilant against ticks! Ticks are more apt to land on your pet or to hitch a ride on a person now that the ambient outdoor temperature is rising.
We are seeing MORE cases of tick infestation now than we saw at this time last year.
The best defense? Be PROACTIVE and not REACTIVE.
We recommend Flea/Tick preventative to be used monthly until the ground is frozen for 3 days in a row (so, now until established winter).
Call us for more information on how to help prevent fleas on your pet! We have topicals products, oral products, and Seresto Flea/Tick collars to help your pet to combat ticks!
HEARTWORM disease has always been easier to prevent than to treat. We have cases of Heartworm disease here in Northeastern Ohio due to a large reservoir of coyotes, foxes, stray dogs and Heartworm-positive dogs that have yet to be diagnosed.
BE VIGILANT IN ADMINISTERING HEARTWORM PREVENTION TO YOUR DOG!
