Meet nine-month-old French Bulldog, Stella (with our Client Care Specialist, Adrienne)!

Stella's dad came to Neighborhood Pets, worried because she wasn't acting like herself. Based on her symptoms, we thought she might have a UTI, but after further discussion, we thought something more serious was going on. Unspayed dogs can get an infection in their uterus that is life-threatening, called a Pyometra, which is fast-moving, painful, and needs to be removed by emergency surgery. Our team jumped into action - we worked together to call our list of veterinarians in the area who might be able to help. Finally, we were able to get Stella an appointment at Gateway Animal Clinic.

Gateway confirmed Stella's pyometra, and the staff there was able to get Stella through the night with fluids and antibiotics. The next morning, she had her surgery at the Cleveland APL, and despite minor complications, she has recovered well! We are so grateful to be part of Stella's story, to have bridged the gap between Stella's dad and the care Stella needed. And thank goodness he acted when he did to get his best friend the help she needed!
