On Father’s Day, we celebrate fathers like Dr. Mark Brown, who is not only a cancer survivor but a cancer researcher as well. Diagnosed with stage 3 colore**al cancer, he underwent several procedures including the removal of his colon. Celebrating 10 years of survival, Dr. Brown rode in VeloSano with his family in 2023.

“For anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer, try to remain hopeful, even in advanced stages. Don’t read the statistics because your condition is a unique case.”

Thanks to the money raised through VeloSano, Dr. Brown has been the recipient of two pilot grants which fund projects in his lab such as researching how the human gut microbiome metabolizes foods in ways that can either cause or prevent certain types of cancer. VeloSano is a global movement! 🌍🚴‍♀️ On May 26, 33 members of Team Cleveland Clinic London pedaled 30, 60 and 100-miles in Ford RideLondon, an annual cycling festival and fundraising event based in London - this existing event allowed their team to participate and fundraise to benefit VeloSano, together. So far this year, they've raised over $27K for cancer research at Cleveland Clinic.
With the involvement of Cleveland Clinic leaders as well as caregivers and supporters of Cleveland Clinic London, VeloSano continues to expand its global footprint.

Phillip Gard received his cancer diagnosis in September 2013. From there, his multiple myeloma diagnosis changed everything.

As long-time employee of Cleveland Clinic himself, he underwent 9 years of treatment at the Taussig Cancer Center. After a CAR-T cell transplant in January of 2022 he is now off treatment and enjoying his retirement and a member of our Living Hope Community.

This Mother's Day, we celebrate the strength of mothers like Sarah, a cancer survivor whose journey inspires us every day. Despite facing stage IV Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, Sarah's resilience and the support of innovative treatments like immunotherapy have brought her hope and progress.

"Participation in VeloSano gives me a sense of hope," she shares. "My children also participate and I love watching them advocate for a cause and look for creative ways to increase contributions for our team." Through VeloSano, she finds a community united in the fight against cancer. Let's honor Sarah and all mothers by continuing to stride towards a future free from cancer.
