Habitat homeowner, Alisha, closed on her home a few years ago. Since then she garnered a Bachelor’s degree and is currently working on a Master’s degree.

Her mortgage note is less than her former rent and she is now able to offer her children a safe affordable place to live, learn and play!

It’s important to remember that the true light comes from the hundreds of acts of kindness demonstrated by volunteers and donors who took time out of their busy lives to bring those families HOME! I’m giving thanks this Sunday to the staff at Macomb County Habitat for Humanity! They always go the extra mile. Always.

This giving season, we’d like your help by nominating Macomb County Habitat for Humanity as a non-profit that is making a difference in Macomb County.

First State Banksgiving seeks to honor the charitable organizations who work so hard on a day-to-day basis to make change in our communities. First State Bank will be awarding $30,000 this Banksgiving:
• One Grand Gift Winner will receive a $10,000 donation
• Four Gift Winners will each receive a $5,000 donation
From October 16 - 20, 2023, you can nominate Macomb County Habitat for Humanity to receive a donation from First State Bank. Nominations can be submitted online or you can submit a nomination form at any of our branch locations. Finalists will be announced on November 13. Soft opening today at our new Warren store. Plenty of work to be accomplished between now and October 19, the grand opening.

I am so proud of our team! In a few short weeks, they have moved some administrative staff to Shelby; some to Warren; and an entire store to the new location.

This was hard work with a thousand moving parts! We thank Target and GM for their wonderful volunteers. You rocked! We thank every donor, especially Comcast and GRIT for their generous support!

But when all was said and done, a wonderful band of employees gave their all to see the move take place. I lift them up! I praise them! I cherish them!

The Low Income Household Water Assistance Program (LIHWAP) offers services for qualified residents, including direct payment assistance for household accounts in arrears or disconnect status, including reconnection fees when services have been disconnected.

Kudos to Ericia Bartels for being the orchestra leader and to Mitch Roberts for building the new checkout counter using ReStore supplies! Thank you to all the staff, admin and ReStore, as well as volunteers, including my granddaughter, Jadyn- the cutie on the ladder! This is the dream team! Join us as a volunteer, donor, or idea maker! We need everyone!
