To all of my gorgeous curly clients- I have Bounce Curl brushes officially in the salon for sale. They help to create beautiful definition in your curls. I have been obsessing over this brush (and these stunning curls 🤩 I mean, just look at them!). I’m so happy that Bounce Curl has allowed me to sell their product 💗. It’s easily one of my favorite products of the entire year. Maybe even one of the top 5 of my career (but it’s too early to tell 😉).
A very gorgeous and natural looking high and lowlight on one of my favorites 🩷 I added some depth to her hair for the ‘darker’ months -
I hope you’ve enjoyed your first day of ‘fall back’!
I thought I’d do my usual “get your humidifier out!” speech and give a few other suggestions to help us during the cooler months.
Let’s get to it!
Humidifier 🧖♀️
A humidifier is a fantastic addition to your routine, especially during colder months when indoor heating dries out the air. This dry air can pull moisture from your skin and hair, leaving them feeling parched, dull, and prone to breakage or irritation. By adding moisture back into the air, a humidifier helps keep skin soft, supple, and less prone to cracking or flaking, while also reducing frizz and breakage in hair by keeping it hydrated and smooth. It’s even more beneficial if you’re using skincare products with hyaluronic acid! Since hyaluronic acid pulls moisture from the environment into your skin, it needs a bit of humidity to work its best. A hydrated environment allows hyaluronic acid to fully do its job, leaving your skin plump, dewy, and moisturized. ✨
Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner 💧
During the colder months, switching to a hydrating shampoo and conditioner can make all the difference! 🧴❄️ The chilly weather and indoor heating can leave hair feeling dry and brittle, but a good hydrating formula helps lock in moisture, keeping your strands soft, smooth, and protected. It’s a small change that goes a long way in keeping your hair happy and healthy all winter long!
I have a few of my favorites in the salon!
Hair Mask 🧴
Hair masks are a winter must-have! ❄️ When the air gets colder and drier, our hair tends to lose moisture, leaving it prone to breakage, frizz, and dullness. A nourishing hair mask, used once a week, can give your hair the extra hydration it needs to stay soft and strong. It’s a little self-care treat that helps keep your hair looking shiny and feeling healthy all season long! ✨ Clients, check your email inbox or junk mail for the news letter I sent this morning- there’s even more info in there as well as a cute photo of Evelyn 🐾
Hello Friends!
I hope you've enjoyed your first day of 'fall back'!

Hair Mask
Hair masks are a winter must-have! ❄️ When the air gets colder and drier, our hair tends to lose moisture, leaving it prone to breakage, frizz, and dullness. A nourishing hair mask, used once a week, can give your hair the extra hydration it needs to stay soft and strong. It’s a little self-care treat that helps keep your hair looking shiny and feeling healthy all season long! ✨ As you can see below, Evelyn is a big fan of hair masks too!
Scalp Care
Winter scalp care is essential for keeping your hair healthy and comfortable all season! ❄️ The cold, dry air and indoor heating can lead to a dry, itchy scalp, which sometimes causes flakiness. To combat this, try adding a scalp-specific treatment or gentle exfoliating scrub to your routine once a week (I have a great one in salon!). Massaging in a scalp oil or serums can also add moisture, soothe itchiness, and help with any dryness. It’s also smart to avoid super hot showers, as they can strip away natural oils (but hey, sometimes we need a hot shower!). Keeping your scalp happy and hydrated will make a huge difference in your overall hair health all winter long! ✨
Leave-In Conditioner
A leave-in conditioner is a winter essential for keeping your hair hydrated and manageable! It’s perfect for taming frizz, detangling knots, and adding shine without weighing your hair down. Just apply a small amount to damp hair, focusing on the ends, and enjoy softer, smoother strands all season long. It’s a simple way to keep your hair looking its best, even when the temperatures drop! ✨
Hat Hair
Silk-lined hats are a fantastic winter accessory that combines style with hair care! ❄️ While they keep you warm and cozy, the silk lining offers extra protection for your hair against the harsh winter elements. Unlike wool or other materials that can cause friction and lead to breakage, silk helps to reduce static and keeps your hair smooth. This means less frizz and fewer split ends! Plus, silk is naturally moisture-wicking, which helps maintain your hair’s hydration. So, not only do you get to enjoy a chic look, but you also give your hair the gentle care it deserves during the cold months. It’s a win-win! 🎩✨ You can find them all over the internet, but I typically direct people to KIN Apparel (https://kinapparel.org/collections/satin-lined-beanies?srsltid=AfmBOoolBjf6-fmQEYzuYxTsaG_91NjxNHU0S7XJ_3_J_iHTF9ZaWC2q)

Happy Halloween and Dia de los Mu***os!
I had the pleasure of hosting 3 time NAHA (North American Hairdresser Award) winner and International Hairdresser of the Year, Ryan Teal, for a hair cutting class this afternoon. I hand picked the model and what haircut I wanted taught in class. The bob is timeless and I so often see it (when I’m in public) not executed to its full potential- so I thought this would be a great refresher. I have been a curious person my entire life. Always wanting to learn what I can from anyone who enters my orbit, so I will always attend (or host!) classes. When you stop learning, you start deteriorating.
I always love feedback and reviews. It helps me to know what I’m doing well - to lean more in to it, and what I can improve upon. While I love a compliment just as much as everyone else, internally, I am always striving to improve everything I can. From my work (hair and makeup) to the business side of it (finance, website, the booking experience, etc) to my own personal growth (physical fitness, mental/emotional growth and wellbeing, etc). While I do not believe that perfection is a real, I am always working to see improvement. I want to produce the highest quality that I possibly can 🩷 your feedback and reviews help me in many ways and they are deeply appreciated. However, as you can see in this review, the relationships I have developed over the years are what mean the most to me. So many of the people that frequent my chair become family to me- the conversations and relationships run deep! I often see many of you more than you see your own families. I get to be there for the good times and the somber times. I realize that I’m part of your lives, and please know that you’re part of mine. I often find myself thinking about many of you and how x, y, or z has gone for you. I look forward to our next appointment so I know how it’s going, or sometimes I even just text you to find out. When you sit in my chair, you become family.
Using the right products for your hair type, goals, and even the seasons is key to keeping your hair healthy and looking its best! Different hair types—whether curly, straight, fine, or thick—have unique needs, and using products tailored to them helps ensure you’re nourishing and protecting your hair properly.
Your hair care goals, like adding volume or taming frizz, also play a big role in what products you should use.
Plus, changing products with the seasons is smart—your hair might need extra moisture in the winter or lighter, more breathable formulas in the summer. All of this helps keep your hair vibrant, strong, and manageable year-round!
Think of your hair products as a personal prescription that we put together at your appointment. Speaking of appointments- find your appointment with me (or any other information, including pricing, informational blog posts, and more) on my website- link in the bio!
Curly cuts are contagious! This lovely lady’s daughter is a curly client of mine and was enchanted with her daughter’s hair after coming to me, so she came to see what I’m all about! Curly haircuts are done different than those who don’t have much texture in their hair. I have my curly guests come in with hair styled how they normally wear it (in its natural state). After a thorough consultation, I dry cut them and let the shape and hair speak to me (I know it sounds artsy fartsy, but the proof is in the pudding!). I have very special ($$$$) shears that have curved blades that go in and cut with the shape of the hair rather than creating a straight/harsh shape on hair that has natural movement. Once I’ve created my masterpiece, it’s time for a relaxing a luxurious shampoo and scalp massage, followed by a hydrating conditioning. Followed by a toasty (curly girl friendly!) towel, and styling and drying! October is filling up quickly, so if you’re wanting to pay me a visit, go schedule your appointment with me on my website- link in bio!
Chelating, also known as Clarifying! It’s a great way to remove build up from products, pollution, and minerals (from water etc). Pair this with a great haircut and deep conditioning (or Gloss!) treatment and you’ve got an entirely fresh head of hair ready to face the Fall season!
All the way from Brooklyn, NY for her yearly curly cut 💗I love getting caught up on what’s going on in life, how dreams are coming true, and all the new and fun stuff you all get up to. I get to be part of such monumental moments and memories in so many peoples lives- in this case, a new job in this persons dream field. I am already for our next appointment to see all of the growth and fun things she has learned and accomplished! All in less than a month I have seen so many people through job losses, new jobs, cancer diagnosis, weddings, divorce, other medical events, taking a leap and opening their own business, their child moving away, loss of long time furry family members, selling or buying a home, and so many other things. I get to know people and their lives on a very deep level that most others don’t get to see. The rest of the world often has no idea what someone is going through, so please remember to be happy for not only your friends and family, but random strangers. Treat others with the kindness that would touch or surprise you. People simply want to be heard and seen. Be curious. Be kind.
Duality is one of my favorites things in fashion and hair. The one I use most frequently is the duality of light and dark (within hair color). It’s my thing. As you’ll notice in this first photo, the use of light and dark actually helps show off the movement of her stunning natural curls. I created depth and help to lead the eye. (Swipe to see the before photo).
Duality: The quality or condition of being dual. An instance of opposition or contrast between two concepts or two aspects of something; a dualism.
Light and dark in hair color creates contrast and depth, adding dimension and vibrancy. Similarly, in life, light represents joy and positivity, while dark can symbolize challenges or introspection. Together they highlight the beauty of balance, reminding us that both highs and lows contribute to our unique experiences and personal growth 🩷 to show off some highs and lows within your own gorgeous locks, go to my website (link in bio) to schedule your appointment with me.
Watching The Eras Tour while getting some fresh Fall 🍁 hair- 😊 that’s how I do it here! + freshly ground ☕️
When a new curly client sits in my chair it sparks joy in me. Especially those who haven’t ever had a proper curly cut before. To see the change in their texture and shape affects their face shape and confidence (in the best way possible) has become my addiction.
This lovely new guest (swipe to see the ‘before’) came in wanting to revive her curls (they had disappeared, but they will come back!) wanting some great shape (my studio is a ‘no-Christmas tree 🚫🌲 hair’ zone) and over all life brought back to her hair.
The way this haircut instantly drew your attention to her eyes and cheek bones was enough to make me gasp with excitement!
All of my clients know, but my curly clients especially know the importance of shape within the haircut and that a high quality custom haircut will create ease in your daily routine, boost confidence, and last longer than something ‘off the rack’. I take great pride in my bespoke creations 💗 and it fills my tank to see them light you up as well! Have a great weekend and I look forward to seeing you soon! For the first time ever in my career, I was a wedding guest (and only a guest! Normally I am working (makeup) or have to help in some way or another)! It was really lovely to be able to just go and enjoy the evening with some close friends and make new ones. There was even a caricature artist there, so my best friend (Amanda) and I did that together.
The fair is in full swing now. While most of you know that I do not attend the fair, I know it’s very popular! I love the sun ☀️ but I want you to remember that prolonged exposure can not only fade your color and dry out (and potentially damage) your hair, but we need to protect our scalps, ears, and face from damage and that ugly C word! Get a cute hat and your shades 🕶️ and go eat the following for me: corn dog, funnel cake, fried snickers, and a caramel apple! 🎡🎠Let me know in the comments what your favorite fair food is!
In conversation with my last client of the day yesterday, the subject of Enneagram came up. I mentioned that I was an Enneagram 1 - she was not surprised at all. I haven’t really taken the time to read too much into to my numbers characteristics- it is known as the ‘perfectionist’ or ‘reformer’ and known for having high standards. I always considered myself easy going and I don’t believe in perfection, but that there is always room for improvement. I’ve come to find, in conversation with others as well as self reflection (I mean… look at the product shelves… it’s on the wall for me to see), I really do have certain expectations and standards. Especially when it comes to my craft. I spend the extra time to make sure it’s right. Without going in to a psychological deep dive on myself here, it’s important for me to see myself for who I am - I’m definitely a 1 through and through and not as easy breezy as I wanted to see myself as. I do think there is room for both though! So, if you’ve taken the Enneagram, let me know in the comments what your number is and does it resonate with you?
The 2024 Olympics start in one week. In the spirit of the Olympics, here’s a photo of me at The Panathenaic Stadium in Athens, Greece 🇬🇷. It is considered the first modern Olympic stadium, having hosted the first modern Olympics in 1896 and is made entirely of marble!
Last night I just watched part of a docuseries on Netflix featuring that I highly recommend and I can’t wait for the continuation in the autumn. I look forward to cheering her on this summer!
Let me know in the comments - What Olympic sport or athlete are you most looking forward to?
To keep this somewhat hair related, while I was in Greece and in the amazing sunshine every day, my hair lightened ( thus turning far more warm toned too) more than my liking. When I got home, I needed to control those warm tones. First, I clarified my hair, then put the appropriate gloss on it to help neutralize the warm tones and bring some depth back to it. The sun lightens and alters our hair (and you can absolutely get skin cancer on your scalp too!) so a hat 👒 is just as important as sunscreen!
