Jasper was enthusiastic about how the light dances on the undulations of the bullnose plaster that terminates onto the trim around the Marvin Ultimate Double Hung Window. Or I may have read too much into the cat's expression on a visit to a client who recently moved into their completed project.

If you have worked with Rittenhouse Builders, you know we take many pictures documenting construction. I just noticed this photo in the file from an in-progress job, and it sums up the stinking hot weather we have been working through this second week of July. It is not fit for man nor beast!

You could be forgiven when initially reading the architectural plans from Archer & Buchanan Architecture, that a staircase was specified so that the owner would have direct access to the library above. I now understand that we built an addition to display a work of art that just happens to provide access to the 2nd floor.

Every 100 years or so, something interesting happens at this address in West Chester. Rittenhouse Builders is honored to have been the most recent link in a chain of craftspeople to care for this historically important local property. Photos will be forthcoming as we just wrapped construction on this beloved home in June.

Another day in the office.

In addition to our usual fare of house additions and renovations, we also build specialty Outdoor Rooms in collaboration with Wallace Landscape Architects. Here are two current projects underway. Today we began filling nail holes and paint prep for the cedar roof pavilion, next week we will begin painting the outdoor living space with the standing seam metal roof. When the worst of the summer heat breaks, these Outdoor Rooms will be popular.

This Great Room addition is taking shape. It will be anchored by a massive stone fireplace wall at one end and outlined with timber framed trusses.

While everyone was looking at the cool kitchen and the spa like Primary Suite, I snuck away to see how progress was coming with one of my favorite parts of this renovation. The elevated doggie bath that pampers the owner’s back…and Fido!
