🌈 Happy Pride Month, everyone! 🌈
This June, we come together to celebrate love, acceptance, and the incredible diversity within our community. At HGLO, we stand proud with our LGBTQ+ students, honoring the progress made and acknowledging the work that still needs to be done.
Your identity is valid and your voice matters. Whether you’re out and proud, still finding your way, or supporting loved ones, you are an essential part of this vibrant community. 🏳️🌈💖
Happy Pride! Let’s continue to shine bright and be the change we wish to see. ✨

HGLO is so proud of our own Matt Zinno, shown here presenting his research on public opinion surrounding affirmative action policies. Matt participated in UMD’s undergraduate research day, which is a rare thing for first year students to do. His fantastic data science skills were on full display. Keep up the good work, Matt! You make HGLO proud!

It was a beautiful day for HGLO’s excursion to Japanese Street Festival in Washington DC! 🌸🇯🇵
This morning we took students to the U.S. Capitol for a tour. We started with “Out of Many, One,” a 13-minute film that illustrated how this country established a new form of government; highlighted the vital role that Congress plays in the daily lives of Americans; and introduced us to the building that houses the U.S. Congress. Then, we went on a walking tour of the rotunda and other halls. Great way to start the day!
These are just a few pictures of our cultural dinner last week. It was such a great event - fantastic presentation from and delicious food from Manila Mart.
Today we talked with Banneker/Key recipients who received invitations to join HGLO. Thank you Ziyan, Stella, and Ilayda (current students) for talking to new Terps.
Stop by between 2pm and 5pm, and stay as little or as long as you want. We will have painting stations, coloring, puzzles, and snacks!
