My full statement in response to the South Carolina Supreme Court's ruling on the South Carolina Education Scholarship Trust Fund Act:

The risks and forces President Trump is willing to face to serve his country are unbounded. He is the face of America’s strength today. Peggy and I join millions of others praying for his safety and security and that of his family and our country.

"The S.C. House Freedom Caucus presents itself as being the real “conservative” voice in the Legislature, but what distinguishes its members from other Republicans isn’t their position on taxes or guns or abortion or transgender issues or any other culture war or bread-and-butter matters. The two groups’ positions on those issues are largely the same: Cut more taxes, ban more abortions, arm more people, fight harder against the idea that gender is fluid.

The difference is the groups’ approach to governance. One wants to pave roads and keep state government operating. The other wants to score points on social media by “owning” the Republicans they claim might as well be Democrats. If you live in one of the 32 House districts where serious Republicans are squaring off against Freedom Caucus candidates in the June 11 primary, your choice comes down to whether you want a lawmaker or a tweeter to represent you in the Legislature."

This Memorial Day, we reflect on and honor the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for our country. We pause to remember their courage and express our gratitude. Freedom is not free, and their sacrifice reminds us of that.

The media has been highlighting the mistruths of the fringe members who are part of the Freedom Caucus.

The recent series of news reports should be a wake-up call for all Republican voters who are planning to participate in the June 11th primary.

These Freedom Caucus members are not interested in advancing conservative policies in our state.

Part of their strategy is to mislead voters on the issues that are important to you and your families.

I signed the Help Not Harm bill into law, which protects our state’s children from irreversible gender transition procedures and bans public funds from being used for them. I look forward to joining legislators and supporters at a ceremonial bill signing in the Upstate next week.

Today, on the last day of the 2023-2024 session, House Republicans concurred with Senate amendments and sent the 'Help Not Harm' bill to Gov Henry McMaster to sign into law. This bill prohibits gender transition procedures for minors and ceases Medicaid and public funding for such treatments for individuals under 26. This landmark legislation reflects our commitment to protecting the well-being and future of our children.

Today, I joined all Republican governors in issuing a statement in solidarity with the Jewish community and recognizing Jewish-American Heritage Month.

Big news! Today the SC House Republican Caucus has taken a strong step towards securing our elections by passing S.1126, a Joint Resolution that will ensure only registered U.S. citizens can vote. This question will be on the statewide ballot for voters to decide in the next General Election.
