This month's podcast review is brought to you by Deb Doyle. She reviewed the Womanica Podcast.
I have good intentions of digging into some “meaty” podcasts but have neither the attention span or the discipline to listen to anything much more than 5 minutes.
I stumbled upon Womanica and these bite sized recordings are more my speed! Each month has its own theme – June’s is Wordsmiths, for example.
I haven’t been following them for long but so far have learned of some amazing, bold and smart women. What’s not to love about that?!

Juneteenth marks our country’s second independence day. Although it has long celebrated in the African American community, this monumental event remains largely unknown to most Americans.
Freedom for the African American community truly came on June 19, 1865, when some 2,000 Union troops arrived in Galveston Bay, Texas. The army announced that the more than 250,000 enslaved black people in the state, were free by executive decree. This day came to be known as "Juneteenth," by the newly freed people in Texas.
