Great news we're excited to share! New Directions' 2025 Cohort of E3 (Educate, Empower, Elevate), our 10-week college preparation and training program, was selected to be a referring partner with the City of Columbus's new cash transfer initiative, Economic Mobility Accelerators.

Board Member Spotlight: Mindy Wright

Mindy Wright has been an advocate for New Directions Career Center for a number of years, helping to establish E3, a collaboration among agencies at the United Way of Central Ohio. As chair of the steering committee, she played a key role in bringing E3 to the Center, making her current board service a continuation of this impactful work.

Through her involvement, Mindy has had the opportunity to hear directly from the clients served by the Center, deepening her understanding of the challenges and successes on the path to financial stability.

Her journey began with data-driven research to identify and support women’s financial empowerment.

Before retiring from The Ohio State University, Mindy led a central Ohio committee focused on enhancing collaboration among nonprofits and higher education institutions. Her extensive experience underscores the importance of strong partnerships for successful nonprofits—a value reinforced through her work with New Directions Career Center.

Mindy encourages others interested in nonprofit work to start by volunteering and getting to know the organization and its people from the ground up.

Meet The 2024 Woman of Promise-Bonnie Eugenia

In 2017, Bonnie arrived at New Directions at a pivotal moment in her life. After leaving an unsafe relationship, she found herself in a new city with no connections but was determined to rebuild for herself and her children. The E³ program at New Directions became the key to helping her prepare to return to college and build financial stability.

Surrounded by supportive women and drawing on her inner strength, Bonnie realized she was capable of much more than she ever imagined. With their encouragement, she made the bold decision to return to school and pursue a career in medicine.

After a 19-year break from her studies, Bonnie completed her Bachelor’s degree in 2020. By January 2024, her hard work paid off as she became a certified Physician Assistant (PA-C) after completing a rigorous 27-month Master’s program. Today, she’s proud to provide compassionate care in the field of sleep medicine.

Bonnie’s journey is a powerful reminder of the resilience of the human spirit and how transformative supportive communities can be!
