So I went back watched the the Breakfast Club segment again in its entirety for now the 3rd time because I hate having uninformed opinions on anything. I also don't want to give an emotional response to spiritual matters. I'm going to offer my full opinion on this weekends podcast but I will say this about it now:

The whole of pretty much everything is institutional. It literally means something established. There are varying types of institutions from our sociological primaries: family, government, economy, education, and religion... to a more expansive inclusion of institutions often interwoven like social, media, community, and cultural institutions. All of which are necessary to not only make sense of life and how all things work together, but also by diving design to bring order to inherent chaos.

The thing about every institution is that it takes people to make them work. Meaning, it will only be as solid as the people that make it to be. If the people break, the institution breaks. If the people are weak, the institution is weak. So if the institution is failing or is "wack" the question then becomes not just why, but what am I willing to do about it? And you would be hard pressed to find reason for why it's wisdom to take these discussions beyond and press the grievance upon the ears of those who do not subscribe to it rather than assess internally what can be done to strengthen it so that they who do not subscribe to it don't find your witness and representation of it to be a stumbling block.

When something is seemingly out of order or "wack" about or within an institution, these are usually conversations that take place within the institution and not on platforms that often believe, guide, structure away from and even operate contrary to the institution.

Simply put, some matters or grievances should be reserved for in-house discussion. Why? Well the biggest reason is because it helps protect and maintain the integrity of the institution, the sacredness of its foundation, and the credibility of your witness.

This is why most secular institutions have policies in place that discourage certain behaviors and how you represent it outside of the institution so that ones conduct or conversation does not bring stain upon it. It's why you can be terminated for making negative social media posts about your employer. It's why they have noncompete agreements, and intellectual property agreements.

When Jesus cursed a thing He did it to where only His disciples could hear. When He went into the temple and took issue with its practices He didn't go on The Breakfast Club and invite its millions of listeners to go in with Him as He chastised and brought correction and set order. But rather He took His disciples and went into the INSTITUTION and served noticed to its LEADERS about the mishandling of the House of God and the mistreatment of His people, then went out of the temple and carried on with His ministry.

Like it or not... we the people make up the institution, are the institution, and are responsible for the integrity of the institution. Contrary to the mis-contextual handling of Amos 5 it's not the feast and the assemblies (institution) themselves that God hated, it was the position of the peoples hearts that made Him detest the institutions.

So if the institution only goes as far as the people who make it, let me repurpose this question... If all the people who make the institution were just like me, what kind of an institution would this church be?

Save the date… January 7th @ 1:30p - WE ARE MOVING IN… WELL, OFFICIALLY 🤧

✅ We will kick off our regular in-person services the first Sunday in January with Holy Communion and our First Fruits seed offering Sunday. There’s truth to the saying “you reap what you sow”, so we want to get our seed in the ground with expectation that whatever God has in store for our 2024 both collectively and individually the NEED is already met and the provision is already made. So January 7th @ 1:30p it’s an ALL WHITE AFFAIR… oh, that means wear white. God is going to do something phenomenal and you don’t want to miss it. We will also be continuing our life changing series on growth, it’s been a real eye opener on so many levels.

2024 will be our best year yet so get excited now… because you’re better already!

Here’s what’s happening at “The Mount”:

✅ Looking forward to 2024? You don’t have to wait until the calendar changes, you can start fresh NOW. Let’s finish this year strong. How you close one door has heavily implications on what happens when you open your next door. Let’s get connected, let’s be engaged, and let’s finish this year with purpose. What how God moves even now as we ready ourselves for a blessed and purposeful new year.
