Sibling, roommate, co-worker, boss, friend, parent, professor, neighbor, cashier, cousin, barista...

Extend the invitation this week... because the Gospel is too beautiful to keep to yourself.

08/07/2024

We have received mercy, grace, love, and peace through Jesus Christ! It's a joy to be able to share this peace with one another...

Each week we spend some time in our Gatherings greeting those around us, making it impossible to leave without catching up with someone you know or meeting a new friend! 🤝

08/05/2024

...You can rest!

The spiritual discipline of Sabbath is an act of saying in our real, everyday life “I HAVE ALL THAT I NEED IN JESUS."

It's about creating space in our lives to begin experiencing deeper levels of that rest HERE and now in Jesus as we look forward to the eternal rest that’s coming when Jesus returns.

So pause your scrolling and remind yourself "I have all that I need in Jesus!"

Tell us, why do you love Sundays mornings at Veritas? ☀️

07/31/2024

Thank you Jesus for the opportunity to be apart of your mission! Here are four essential tools to be a witness for Christ...

⭐ A Solid Foundation - Jesus' resurrection and His teachings.
⭐ A Sufficient Power - The indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
⭐ A Sharp Focus - Making disciples where we're at and all the earth.
⭐ A Sure Hope - Christ will return!

A prayer for Monday:

"God, you have given us the gift of your Son, Jesus Christ.
May we flee to no other refuge,
Wash in no other fountain,
Build on no other foundation,
Rest in no other relief.

Shape our loves, desires, and affections toward You, that you may build in us a thirst for Your satisfying Word and a longing for your comforting voice.

We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen."

07/27/2024

Let's delight in the Lord together tomorrow morning as we lift high the name of Jesus in song, prayer, and teaching!

Pray for those sent from Veritas both around the globe and here in our own city! May we be encouraged by their witness to boldly proclaim the name of Christ wherever we may be sent in our daily lives...

Applying God’s word to your life isn’t just asking, "how do I need to change my behavior?"

Instead, application starts with, "how does this change what I believe?"

Every application we find in Scripture, everything we are told to do, is always rooted in what Christ has already done for us and who we are by faith in Him! The Bible points us to come to Jesus because He is the way, the truth, and the life. Once we come to Him, God’s word transforms us to live a way of life that is in line with His truth!

So ask, "What would change about my life if I lived as if this was actually true?"

Because it is!

We celebrated baptisms yesterday at Veritas Tri-City and four people publicly declared that they have been redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and have chosen to walk in the grace He has lavished, forgiven and set free! 🙌

Being in community is how we grow and persevere in our faith. It's how we strengthen our marriages. It's how we learn how to parent and conduct ourselves at work. It's how we share burdens and get through hard seasons. It's how we hold on to the gospel in a world that is trying to kill our joy in Jesus.

We need each other. We need other people to point us back to Jesus and the greatest hope, love, and joy we could ever have.

THIS WEEK, we're pausing our sermon series in John to dive into a new summer sermon series: Disciplines of Delight. ☀️

Spiritual disciplines are meant to lead us to the delight of knowing and experiencing the presence and love of God...

They are activities demonstrated by the life of Jesus and spoken of throughout scripture that open our lives to the transforming power of the Holy Spirit. They are the Spirit-driven means through which we posture our hearts and lives to encounter and delight in the truth, grace, and presence of Jesus.

As disciples of Jesus, we are seeking to follow Jesus and become more like Him. As we study what scripture says about these disciplines, we seek to put them into practice as formative rhythms and habits in our lives, believing that the Spirit will work through them to enable us to stay faithful to our commitment to know and follow Jesus.

Don't miss it!

9 people were baptized at Veritas across Columbus last Sunday... may the gift of watching others proclaim the new life they have been given in Christ always lead us to rejoice!

"We were buried therefore with Him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life" Romans 6:4 🙌

Today is pentecost Sunday, a day in the liturgical calendar when we remember that as Jesus ascended into heaven, the third person of the triune God, the Holy Spirit, descended upon believers.

Those who put their faith in Jesus are filled with the very presence of God through the Holy Spirit!

Because of Jesus, the people of God are the new temple of God, where the presence of God meets us everyday!

05/18/2024

"We rejoice that You have died, have risen, and are now with the Father advocating for us!"

Week in and week out, these words are rehearsed together, as one family of God, spread across our beloved city, before we partake in communion.

This weekend, pause to remember what Christ has done for you on the cross and rejoice in His presence with you, right here, right now.

We can't wait to share in this meal together once more...

We're celebrating baptisms this weekend at Veritas Short North and Tri-City! 🌊

Baptism is the outward symbol of an inward reality, those being baptized are declaring that they have been united with Christ in His death and raised with Him into new life, redeemed, cleansed, and forgiven.

Pray with us for those being baptized, rejoicing that God has called them to Him! 🙌

Our Father gives good gifts… one of those is the gift of motherhood in all its forms. We thank God that the role of motherhood is found perfectly and completely in the character of God and that He uses the women of our church body to grow, love, nurture, and sharpen our community.

Happy Mothers Day! 💗

As with every ministry at Veritas, the gospel of Jesus Christ drives all that we do. It is no different for Community Groups. We are passionate about our groups for five biblical reasons:

1. We are created for community. As people made in God’s image, we are made for relationships—with God and others. (Genesis 2)

2. We are called into community. As people saved by grace, we are redeemed individually for a corporate existence—as part of the body of Christ. (1 Peter 2:9-10)

3. We are cared for in community. As people cared for and comforted by our heavenly Father, we are compelled to love others in the same manner. (Ephesians 5:1)

4. We are changed in community. As people who are on a journey of change, we are transformed by the grace of God through caring relationships found in community. (James 5:16)

5. We are commissioned in community. As people who have received the redeeming love of Christ, we show our love of God through sharing the good news and doing good deeds so that others may praise Him. (Ephesians 2:10)

We are a community because the Bible says followers of Jesus are God’s children, and therefore we are brothers and sisters in Christ. This fact means we can enjoy deep and meaningful relationships with each other because we all share the same Father. As a community, it is our joy and calling to care for the needs of one another, both physically and spiritually. We disciple, nurture, and hold one another accountable to this covenant life we live together.

Pictured are some men from Veritas who got together last night at Rich and Carola Thompson's house to learn about "contentment" from one another while enjoying each other's presence.

Go to veritascolumbus.com/rekindle to read more about "Rekindle," a series of events hosted by men and women at Veritas West. The next one is for women on July 7th with the topic "Living on Mission: You are the Girl for the Job/Task."

The act of dedicating children is the church recognizing the high calling that all parents carry with them, to shepherd their children in the ways of the Gospel, daily living out the Christian life and proclaiming the good news of Jesus to their children. This is meant to be orienting for parents, reminding them what being a parent is really all about because the children are the next generation of disciples. So in this way, the church extends encouragement, promises to support parents, and holds them accountable to Biblical excellence by the power of the Spirit and the grace of the Son.

Ash Wednesday confronts us with a stark reminder of our mortality and our sinfulness. To heed this call is not to despair, but to respond with repentance and to trust a merciful God. It’s a call to depend on and rest in the work of Christ. On Ash Wednesday, we begin the 40 day season of Lent. The journey begins with us facing our sin as we spend an evening in prayerful repentance and confession and hope-filled worship.

Join us on Ash Wednesday, February 17th at 6:00pm at Veritas West, 12 S Terrace Ave, either by registering to join us in-person or on the livestream.
