This Fourth of July, remember that knowing your limits is a sign of strength. Don't let peer pressure or guilt make you backtrack on your recovery. ๐Ÿ’ช

Here are some tips to help you stay sober during the festivities:

๐Ÿ”นBring Your Own Non-Alcoholic Drinks: Having a drink in hand can help you feel more comfortable and avoid questions.
๐Ÿ”นSet Boundaries: Donโ€™t be afraid to say no. Your health and well-being come first.
๐Ÿ”นHave a Set Time to Leave: Setting a reasonable time for departure helps you leave the celebration before things get too rowdy as the night goes on.
๐Ÿ”นHave a Support System: Stay close to friends or family who understand and support your journey.
๐Ÿ”นPlan Ahead: Know your exit strategy if things get overwhelming.
๐Ÿ”นStay Busy: Engage in activities like games, conversations, or helping with the event to keep your mind off drinking.
๐Ÿ”นTake Breaks: If you feel overwhelmed, step away for a moment to regroup.

Celebrate your independence by making choices that support your well-being. Happy Fourth of July! ๐ŸŽ‡๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Did you know that 7-8% of the US population will experience PTSD at some point in their lives?๐Ÿง

As we gear up for Fourth of July celebrations, itโ€™s important to remember that fireworks๐ŸŽ†, while beautiful, can be a trigger for PTSD in veterans and others affected by trauma. The loud noises and sudden flashes can bring back distressing memories and cause significant anxiety.

Letโ€™s be considerate and find ways to celebrate that are inclusive and supportive of everyone. โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’™

* Wear a wide-brimmed hat

* Wear light-colored clothing

* Wear loose-fitting lightweight clothes in a breathable fabric

*Mist yourself with a spray bottle when you feel overheated

* Drink plenty of water

Even with the school year ending and summer approaching routines help with kidsโ€™ mental health.

Routines make children feel safe. Routines help them know what to expect from a situation, which helps them feel in control and can decrease feelings of anxiety.

Routines help build independence. When children get used to following the same set of steps over and over again, they are more able to do these steps on their own which builds a sense of mastery and confidence.

Routines Can Decrease Power Struggles. When children have consistent and predictable routines, they are more likely to do what is expected of them.
