Coffee jelly has joined our dessert lineup starting today! This addition, the first ever from our official coffee brand , is our take on an iconic dessert that has been a staple at traditional Japanese coffee shops since the early 1900s.

A generous layer of bittersweet coffee jelly is balanced by its sweet cream topping and garnished with a coffee bean. We use our house roasted dark house blend for a rich and satisfying coffee flavor. This is the same blend we used for our popular coffee beverages, the Einspänner, Crème au lait, and Milk coffee.

Dine-in customers’ coffee jellies will be served in elegant coupe glasses and the to-go jellies will be displayed in the case next to our macarons. Each jelly is $6 and is made with beef gelatin. Please be aware that a limited amount of coffee jelly is available each day and we may sell out by the end of the day. We will update our stories letting you know if we sell out each day this week.

We’ve created a new mini macaron cake flavor in honor of Mother’s Day - the Mini Versailles, made with blackberry and elderflower with subtle notes of blackcurrant. Delicate and refreshing, the harmony of these flavors evokes the fine fruits, wines, and desserts characteristic of France.
This is our first original flavor combination release for our mini macaron cakes. Our Ispahan cakes (made with raspberry, vanilla, rose, and lychee) are our take on the original created by the renowned pâtissier, Pierre Hermé. For now, we are only offering the mini size of the Versailles but we hope to offer 5” and 7” Versailles cakes sometime soon.

We have decided to begin closing our shop on Thursdays to keep up with the increasing demand we have been experiencing. Starting this week, our shop will open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday only. Although there is a possibility that we may expand our hours again in the future, this change is indefinite and will only be reversed if we find ways to improve our efficiency without negatively impacting quality.

Using Thursdays as an additional baking and preparation day will allow us to release new items with much greater frequency as well as keep our items stocked better on the days we are open. Lately, we have been selling out of most desserts and even our coffee beverages and coffee beans well before closing time. In our struggle to keep up, all of our time and energy have gone into baking and roasting as much as possible. It is our hope that we can begin to show you a great deal more creativity and even better quality as a result of this schedule change.

We know this news may be disappointing to many and we are truly sorry to those who are negatively affected by this change. We hope to make up for it by gradually coming out with exciting new flavors and items that we otherwise would not have had time to test and by accepting more custom orders. We are honored and humbled by the increase in traffic this year and the continually growing interest in our handmade desserts, coffee beans, and beverages.

The past three weeks have been the busiest that Mjomii has ever experienced! You may have seen our Instagram/Facebook stories showing an empty display case when we sold out of desserts a few times over the past two weeks. Although we have some idea of what is causing us to be so much busier than usual, this was entirely unexpected. We are astounded by the unprecedented amount of traffic and the incredible kindness, love, and support we’ve been receiving from both new and longtime customers. Thank you all!

We are doing our best to keep up with demand but have fallen so far behind that we need an extra day to catch up on baking and coffee roasting. Although our shop is typically only open four days a week, our team is at the shop every day: Mondays - Wednesdays are our dedicated baking and roasting days that allow us to prepare enough product to sell on our open days. Closing this Thursday will give us an additional preparation day that will allow us to get back on track without severely overworking ourselves. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this sudden closure may cause you!

The Mjomii team values consistently excellent quality and customer experience more than anything. We believe that running our family business as a small, tight-knit team is the best way to ensure that we can maintain our high standards. Our team of 5 makes all of our desserts and drinks entirely from scratch in-house. This means the amount of product we can make each week is limited. We will do our best to keep up with the increasing demand but please be aware that we may sell out of desserts before the end of the day, especially on weekends, if we continue to be this busy. Even if desserts sell out, our entire (or nearly entire) beverage menu should always be available until close every day.

We are preparing more macarons this time than for previous shipments, so we are hoping this one won’t sell out quite as quickly. Nevertheless, we recommend ordering sooner rather than later if you can!

This shipment will go out this Monday, 2/5, to ensure that it arrives well in time for Valentine’s Day. If you are saving the macarons until the actual holiday, you can freeze them to perfectly preserve their quality until then. Our macarons make a beautiful and delicious handmade gift for anyone located in the contiguous USA.

Closed Friday 1/19, reopening Saturday, 1/20!
The good news: we have finally fully acclimated to the new almond flour after a difficult 3 days devoted exclusively to testing! The bad news: this process took so long that in order to replenish our macaron stock, roast coffee, and prepare our other menu items, we need to extend the closure until tomorrow (Friday, January 19th).

Anyone with custom pickup orders or cake orders will still be able to pick up tomorrow as scheduled and we will reach out to you directly to confirm.

We are so grateful for all of the kind words of support and encouragement which helped us get through this rough time. Please stay safe and warm during the coming snowstorm. We are excited to see you again this weekend!

We will be CLOSED Thursday, January 18th due to trouble acclimating to our new batch of almond flour. Nearly everything we’ve baked the past two days in preparation for opening this week has had to be thrown in the trash.

As you may be aware, macarons are highly temperamental so with the new (very different) almond flour and extremely low humidity, our batches have not been coming out up to our standards. Although we are getting close to full acclimation, we are now so far behind with this week’s baking that we have no choice but to close tomorrow.

We are confident that we will be able to open as usual starting Friday but please keep an eye on our stories for any additional updates.

We released our December macaron shipment on our website a few minutes ago! This is the only shipment for December and it will go out on Monday (12/11) via UPS.

There are three available assortments, each containing one dozen macarons. We are including a special freebie this time, a holiday logo sticker (JJ the cat wearing a Santa hat), with each dozen ordered! These stickers will be available to purchase at the shop starting next week.

All 5 holiday flavors are featured in 2 of the assortments (the December and Holiday assortments) - Gingerbread, Peppermint, Marron (rum + chestnut), Chocolate orange, and Sohl (pine + honey). The third assortment contains our 12 classic flavors only. See our website for the exact contents of each assortment.

If you need to keep your macarons fresh for a holiday gathering later in the month, please freeze them! They freeze so well that there is no perceptible difference in taste or texture after thawing. Just make sure to move your frozen macarons to the fridge and let them thaw overnight or for at least 2 hours before serving.

Like the November shipment, we anticipate that this one will sell out within a day or two so if you are planning on ordering, we recommend doing so as soon as possible just in case!

Our Thanksgiving macaron shipment, which is the first one this season, is now available to order on our website! Orders will be open until 9pm on Monday (11/15) or until sold out. All orders will ship out next Tuesday (11/16) and will arrive in 1-4 days - definitely in time for Thanksgiving!

We have two assortments (one dozen macarons in each) available for this shipment. One includes a dozen different flavors (9 classic + 3 Fall rotating flavors), and the other includes 4 Fall rotating flavors (three of each flavor). For details on the included flavors and packaging, please visit our website (mjomii.com). Each shipped dozen is $29 and shipping fees start at $9.

If you would like to save your shipped macarons until Thanksgiving or even later, just freeze them until the day before serving then transfer them to the fridge the night before. They will still be in excellent condition!

A brand new flavor, Banana milk, is here to welcome you all back to the shop after our long break! The classic Korean banana-flavored milk (바나나맛 단지 우유), which is sold at every single convenience store in South Korea, is a delicious treat we greatly miss from our time living there. We hope you enjoy this Banana milk-inspired macaron flavor as much as we do!

Pumpkin Pie is also in stock for the first time ever at the storefront! This has always been one of our most popular seasonal rotating flavors ever since we first began selling it at markets and our little kiosk a few years back. The pumpkin spice-flavored shells (each decorated with a single pumpkin seed) are filled with a roasted pumpkin buttercream.

The third rotating flavor this week is Caramel cider, which is made with cinnamon shells and an apple cider caramel buttercream.

It’s hard to believe it’s almost been 4 weeks since we saw you last! We missed you and look forward to seeing you all soon.

Notice about our upcoming break!
Mjomii will be closed from Monday, Sept 18th - Friday, Oct 13th while our team takes time to work on some overdue maintenance/projects, do a bit of traveling, and rest before gearing up for the holiday season. Our last day open before our break will be Sunday, September 17th.

A bit of coffee-related news: as you may have seen in one of our recent stories, Calvin recently began roasting with a new (but very old-school) manual coffee roaster! The wrought iron drum of this roaster, which is a Japanese model called Neji, must be slowly hand-turned over a gas burner. This style of roasting is particularly great for traditional Japanese-style dark roasts, which typically have a pronounced sweetness and complexity with minimal bitterness.

Currently, Calvin is using this roaster for our House blend, which is used in our most popular coffee beverages, the Einspänner, Crème au lait, and Milk coffee. We are not currently selling our house blend beans, but have a variety of house-roasted beans available (bagged to-order in sizes of 100g/3.5oz or 200g/7oz) that are roasted with our electric Bullet roaster.

We are so proud of Calvin for being selected as a member of ’s 2023 class of Tastemakers (“rising food and drink visionaries”)! In late 2020, Columbus Monthly wrote its first article about Mjomii as part of a feature on storefront-less bakeries who were serving the Columbus area during the pandemic. Although we aspired to some day transition to a brick-and-mortar back then, we had no idea we would open our first storefront just two years later. EDIT: The AC is now fixed! Miraculously, the storms held off and the HVAC team was able to replace the broken parts this afternoon. Thank you all so much for your concern and support!

Another stroke of bad luck at the shop… our AC died for the second time in 30 days yesterday afternoon. 🙃
We have a team trying to fix it but with the incoming storms restoration today seems unlikely.

We will still operate as normal with a full menu and if you are okay with the warmth you are welcome to dine in.
In order to mitigate the heat and humidity inside the shop, we will be serving all beverages in to-go cups until the AC is fixed (dishes make the temperature inside rise very quickly).

Thankfully it is not as hot outside as the last time this happened, but without the AC controlling the temperature and humidity, it is nearly impossible to bake decent macaron shells (see our story for an example). We will have a good amount for today and tomorrow but some flavors may sell out more quickly than normal.
If the AC problem is prolonged like last time, we may have to slightly adjust our schedule for next week. Stay tuned for updates!

Lime is back! It’s a mouthwateringly tangy flavor made with freshly zested and squeezed limes that fans of key lime pie always love. Perilla seed (들깨), one of our traditional Korean flavors, is also a rotating flavor this week along with Chai.
We made one more batch of Choco coco as well - it probably won’t be here all week so stop by before Saturday if you want to snag a few!

Thank you to everyone who has asked, given advice, and expressed concern about Calvin’s hand since our last post. He is finding ways to relieve the strain caused by lots of repetitive motion during baking. Your words of encouragement and insight have been so helpful!
