It is with extreme sadness that we learn of the passing of our great friend Don Zender. Don has been a huge part of the Columbus Fire Hockey family and he has touched thousands of lives. Through his foundation, Hockey Helping Heroes, Don has organized numerous large scale events that have directly supported first responders and their families all over the state of Ohio. He was never a fan of the spotlight, usually working behind the scenes to make sure these events went great, and they always did. You are already so sorely missed by all of us here and everyone else in the Police and Fire hockey family. Thank you for everything you’ve done for us and everyone else.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Chester (Rusty) Ambrose who left us on June 10, 2024. Rusty was a devoted husband and father. He was born on June 16, 1948 in Columbus, Ohio to Chester and Mary “Virginia” Ambrose. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War (1967-69). Jim Andrews Fundraising Shirt In October 2023 we lost an amazing friend, mentor and supporter, both personally and professionally.
