Last Monday, students participating in The Ohio State University Math and Science Club visited Coalescence to get a taste of what we do! With opening remarks by Co-Founders Angela Cauley and Dr. Ian Blount, the 30 students ranging from 4th grade to 10th grade were divided into three groups where they learned how to make microwave popcorn with Culinary Chef Andrew Odom. They also were taken through a swabbing exercise led by Quality Manager Brian Kellerman and went through a sensory demonstration using chocolate milk with Food Scientist Ben Yeap. Beth Bowman, coordinator of The Ohio State University Math and Science Club said, “This is one of the top activities our students have participated in this year! Plus, the added bonus is that it shows students several job opportunities that people are not typically familiar with.”
Photographs from the event are attached for your enjoyment. A special thanks to Andrew, Ben, Brian for leading this volunteer effort!
