During a session trauma can be released and you may experience some of these things, and that’s ok.
We “ask” the body what it needs. This isn’t done through words but by strategic hand placement. We “allow” movement to take place. Making sure we are creating an safe environment for the body to release. If movement is presented after asking and allowing, we gentle assist the body to release strain. Partnering with Holy Spirit helps us to recognize tight fascia.
From inside the womb to birth to childhood to adulthood, our fascia holds memory. Why does that matter? Is it too late to help fascial strain? If birth was traumatic, fascial tension started at the beginning. It might show right away with trouble feeding, reflux, or sleepless nights. An emotional traumatic situation might have occurred in later years or a physical traumatic experience like an injury. Our body remembers this, Fascial Care can help the body release any anxiety or strain.
This is a great list for kiddos! I use many of these during a session with my littlest clients.

Many parents start to see health problems in their children at a young age. What might be the cause and why would a child need fascial bodywork?
Causes of fascial strain in children:
-emotional trauma
-sports injury
-car accident
-surgery
-tongue/oral ties
-trauma from birth unaddressed
-vaccines
-dental/orthodontics
-falls
In a CFT session with kids, I am flexible with that they want to do. If they play, lay down, or eat a snack; I am able to gently work with them to release any fascial strains.
Many people ask “how do newborns get fascia strain?” or “why do they need fascial bodywork?
Causes of fascial strain in newborns:
-cesarean section
-wrapped umbilical cord
-tongue/oral ties
-breech position/delivery
-forceps or vacuum assisted delivery
-fast or long labor
When working with newborns, I always ask, allow, assist. I let their bodies twist, arch, bend, stretch in a safe way to let them release the fascial tension.
What does fascia look like? The white pith of an orange. It covers under the peel, through each section of the orange and through the core. This is similar to what the Fascial web looks like. The fascia in our bodies is connective tissue that surrounds and supports our muscles, bones, and organs.
In a session of Fascia therapy, we are always Asking the body if it needs to move, Allowing the body to move, and Assisting the body in moving to heal. It isn’t a stretch but an unwinding of tight fascia.
She wasn’t feeling the best, cold and sinus issues. Fascia tightens with stress/trauma. When working on her fascia, her body was able to release that strain, giving her body the ability to recover faster.
CFT session
Fascia is where the body holds onto trauma: physical and emotional. So when fascia has a strain, it doesn’t just go away and kids can’t out grow it. Fascia actually piles up through our lives, similar to an onion, it has many layers. When the fascia is left untreated our bodies adapt with the strain and finds ways to cope.
Reflux, colic, constipation, feeding issues, earache, headaches, bed wetting, and general fussiness can all be signs of tight fascia in kids. These strains can develop into other issues as a teen and adult. So we can’t grow out of it, Fascial strains from birth, accidents, falls, injuries can all stay with us.
Bodywork isn’t just for adults, Fascia work can help release the strains at an early age to help them in the long run.

WHAT IS THE CRANIOSACRAL FASCIAL SYSTEM?
The Craniosacral Fascial System originates in the body's core around the brain and spinal cord, and extends through the fascial web. Fascia is the body’s connective tissue. It is a transport system that helps nourish and detoxify the body. A healthy system allows for the free flow of cerebrospinal fluid from the brain, down the spine and into the fascia.
WHAT IS CRANIOSACRAL FASCIAL THERAPY?
Craniosacral Fascial Therapy is the work of Dr. Barry Gillespie. It originated from the cranial osteopathic principles of Dr. William Sutherland, the myofascial release work of John Barnes, P.T., and Dr. Gillespie's background as a periodontist. It is based on Gillespie's theory that the craniosacral and fascial systems are not separate but one interconnected system.
WHAT IS FASCIA?
Basically, fascia is the body’s connective tissue, providing a framework that helps support and protect muscles, organs, and the entire body as a unit. It is an all-encompassing web found throughout the body that protects the entire body as a whole. It envelopes organs, muscles, nerves and even blood, for protection from outside trauma. It supports the musculoskeletal system and allows us to perform functional activities like walking, jumping, running, or simply changing position. It stores all of the body's physical and emotional traumas, starting at conception.
Meet Jeri.
I am a Craniosacral Fascial Therapist based in the Twin Cities Area in MN. I am a follower of Jesus, a wife, and a mom to two kids.
I started my journey of CFT with an understanding of what trauma is and how it affects the body. When we accumulate various physical and emotional traumas throughout life, these layers of trauma can cause tightness in the craniosacral fascial web. My approach is to partner with our Creator, who knows our bodies best, and to follow His design of the body. I believe it is God's desire for us to have freedom from trauma, and that our physical bodies can be a reflection of His Heart.
