Happy thanksgiving from my family to yours. This year I’m thankful for my family, friends, and for the ladies that I call my tribe that I get to work alongside with to help families daily. 1,000/10 recommend for pediatric dentistry for your kiddo! We have referred many patients to Dr Daghlian and Dr Sokolowski but today was a special day because my daughter got her first cleaning. Let’s talk torticollis and plagiocephaly… torticollis is when baby favors rotation and/or lateral flexion to one side and plagiocephaly is flattening on one side of the head. They can occur together or independently. Over my years in practice, I’ve noticed that almost every baby with torticollis also has oral ties. Because the fascia plane of a tie goes from head to toe, it can affect tightness in the head,neck, and body. You can see I’m doing a measurement on this baby to see what degree of plagiocephaly (if any) is present. I’m using a craniometer to assess. With torticollis and plagiocephaly, sometimes a helmet is required. My goal in office is to do gentle body work and give at home exercises to avoid the helmet for the families. Some of these babies need more frequent care and the factors of frequency vary-from tightness related to oral ties, birth trauma, or even fast births.

There are many anatomical myofascia lines that run through our bodies… the one that connects from the tongue down to the foot is called the deep front line. When tongue ties are present, it can create whole body tension because of this connection of muscles and tissue, which is why bodywork is such an integral part of pre and/or post frenectomy. Sometimes with proper suck training and body work, baby can even get to 95/100% functionality of their tongue without a frenectomy!

My pregnancy patients know this pillow well, as it’s the pillow I use for bellies before baby is born. And after baby is born, babies fit perfectly in it for bodywork. Apparently toddlers fit perfect too 😂🤣

I’ll be out today celebrating the birth of this sweetie that made me a momma 1 year ago!

Pelvic squeezes… super useful as baby is starting to descend towards the end of 3rd trimester and in active labor when baby is trying to descend. By pushing lateral to medial on the iliac crest or squeezing with a rebozo, it can help open up the pelvic outlet (where baby is trying to descend to exit). It also feels pretty amazing! You can see my husband using the rebozo on me (I was 37’ish weeks pregnant here). In the second picture (pre-pandemic), you can see me doing a lateral squeeze (I was demonstrating for a dad to show what he could do to help).

Happy Girls day! Today is “hinamatsuri” (also known as girls day) in Japan, a significant day to celebrate the prosperity, happiness, and health of girls. Wishing all the girls out there, happiness, health, and prosperity!

Great news is the only news I want to hear… it’s music to my ears. When moms text me after visits to tell me-poop happened, tummy time was easier, baby rolled over for the first time, baby took steps for the first time, baby latched without pain, baby slept better, etc. I smile and am so happy for this great news. Keep the great news coming! So happy to be able to help 🥰🥰🥰

Happy Valentine’s Day!

One of the first cricut crafts I made to match mom and daughter before she was born… I saw these somewhere (maybe IG and thought 🤔I can make these!) she finally fits! I can’t express now much I enjoy having 2 days at home w/her during the week while I watch her grow 😍

This little guy jumped onto the table and said my turn! When the kids know that chiro feels good, that speaks volumes 😍

I could stare at babies allllll day longggg 😍 Almost gives me baby fever 😂 almost! **I would also like to use this post as an opportunity to give a quick announcement-if you’ve been exposed to COVID or have any COVID or flu-like symptoms, please call to cancel your appointment! I work with a lot of immunocompromised patients, like this baby seen here and pregnant mamas. I also have a young baby myself and am taking as many cautions as possible with this big rise of COVID cases. Let’s try to stay healthy and stay home if you’re sick ❤️❤️❤️ we’re all in it together

Thankful to the friend/patient who introduced me to 😍 going to try to teach my daughter about all the amazing strong women that have come before her… she’s wearing pj’s that feature Malala Yousafzai-“a Pakistani activist for girls’ education who, at the age of 17, became the youngest person to win the Nobel Peace Prize after surviving an assassination attempt by the Taliban. Malala became an advocate for girls' education when she herself was still a child and her advocacy has grown into an international movement.”
