🏀 **HP Basketball Summer Camp Recap** 🏀
Over the past two weeks, our gym has been buzzing with energy and excitement as we hosted our annual Highland Park High School Basketball Summer Camp. The first week saw our talented 7th-9th graders hitting the courts, showcasing their skills, and learning new techniques. The competition was fierce, but the camaraderie was even stronger.
In the second week, our 3rd-6th graders brought their enthusiasm and passion for the game. It was amazing to see their growth and determination. Both weeks were filled with not only training and drills but also plenty of fun and memorable moments. From skill challenges to team-building activities, every camper gave their all. A big shoutout and congratulations to all our award winners! Your hard work and dedication truly shone through. Thank you to everyone who participated and made this camp a success. We can’t wait to see how you all continue to develop your game! And don’t forget – come watch us play basketball starting in November when our season kicks off. Your support means everything to us!

In memory of Kellis White. 1933-2024. Kellis was a fixture with the HP men’s basketball program serving the district for over 32 years. He was a beloved coach, mentor and made a life long impact on all the young athletes he met.

Each year the basketball team honors Coach White and his legacy through the Kellis White Excellence Award. This award is given to the player that represents how a true Highland Park player should portray themselves on and off the court. Showing excellence on the basketball court but also being an upstanding individual with tremendous character and leadership.

Additionally HPISD presents a graduating senior the Kellis G White Scholarship. Established in 1992, this scholarship recognizes his years of invaluable service and special contributions to generations of students. Kellis wanted to recognize the “unsung heroes” who deserve recognition for contributions that typically go unnoticed publicly.

Both award and scholarship are reflective of the quality of character, unselfishness in participation, and the giving spirit personified by Coach White.

Kellis won a state basketball championship back in 1948 and served in the US Army before dedicating his career to education.

The HP Men’s Varsity Basketball Program held their annual banquet last Thursday. We would like to honor Senior Captain Jordan Stribling for earning The Kellis White Excellence Award. This award is given to the player that represents how a true Highland Park player should portray themselves on and off the court. Showing excellence on the basketball court but also being an upstanding individual with tremendous character and leadership. This award is voted on by the players, coaches, teachers, and staff at the school. Congratulations Jordan for being an ambassador for the program.

The HP Men’s Varsity Basketball Program held their annual banquet last Thursday. We would like to congratulate Senior Roman Dorazil for earning The Linda Beth McNulty Spirit Award. This is the player who lifted everyone’s spirits during the season. He was inspirational to the team and gave great speeches before the game. His energy is infectious on and off the court. Congratulations Roman!

The HP Men’s Varsity Basketball Program held their annual banquet last Thursday to honor the players. Congratulations to Senior Captain Jordan Stribling for earning the Most Valuable Player Award for the 2023-2024 season. Jordan led the team in points, rebounds and numerous other categories. His ability to get to the rim on the offensive end and ability to protect the rim on the defensive end is what makes him so special. Congratulations Jordan - well deserved.

The Highland Park Men’s Basketball Program held their annual banquet last Thursday. We would like to honor Jacob Ariyo for earning the Defensive Player of the Year for the 2023-2024 season. Jacob showed great hustle, the ability to shut down opponents best player, and took a number of charges during the season. Way to go Jacob! His parents accepted his award as he was with the HP Varsity Track and Field team during the banquet.

The HP Men’s Basketball Program held their annual team banquet last Thursday. We would like to recognize Sophomore Henry Beckett for earning Offensive Player of the Year Award for the 2023-2024 season. Henry was the best inside/outside player on the team showing his versatility on the offensive end of the floor. Congratulations Henry!

The HP Men’s Basketball Program held their end of the season banquet last Thursday. We would like to recognize Maxwell Taylor for winning the Most Improved Player of the Year Award for the 2023-2024 season. Max elevated his game throughout the season and became one of our go to players from behind the 3-point line. Congratulations Max!

The HP Men’s Basketball Team had their end of the season banquet last Thursday. Caden Cantrell won the Most Assists Award for the 2023-2024 season. It is always great to have a distributor like Caden on the team. Congratulations and thank you for your contribution!

Congratulations to HP Scot's own Jordan Stribling for winning the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) All-Region Award for Region 1-6A. Only 20 players in Region 1 get this honor.

Congratulations to HP Scots own Harrison Bradford and Maxwell Taylor for winning the THSCA 2024 Boys Basketball Academic All-State Honorable Mention Award.

Congratulations to HP Scots own Larsen Shelby for winning the THSCA 2024 Boys Basketball 2nd Team Academic All-State Award.
