Due to our increased summer youth program, most of our CAFE programs remain on hold until the fall, so there's not a separate calendar for CAFE. We are working on planning a fun family summer event that we’ll announce once we have the details worked out!

Registration links for Art Camp will be available tomorrow, so keep an eye out for that post.

This Friday is Vogue Academy Jr with Resource Center's United Black Ellument (U-BE) program!

Don't know what voguing or ballroom means in this context? UBE and the DMA put out a Voguing Tutorial on YouTube during the pandemic. Minutes 2:09–7:00 cover what we learned and practiced in our first workshop, and then we started on the drops that follow that in our second workshop. Here's the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl2K_SKnrKQ&t=129s

Teen Vogue also published an article with a brief history of ballroom culture if you want to know a little more before showing up on Friday. Here's the article: https://www.teenvogue.com/story/voguing-101

So come this Friday from 6–8 PM and learn about q***r ballroom culture! (We are not open for hangout time before or after that timeframe.) Please make sure youth are picked up no later than 8 PM.

Per Resource Center's Emergency Closings policy, In the event of severe weather, we follow the same closing or delayed opening schedule as Dallas ISD. So all Resource Center locations are closed today, Tuesday, May 28. There will be no Youth First programming tonight.

We'll bump the age groups for Gender Identity by a week, so next week will be the 12–15 year old group, and the 16–18 year old group will be the week after that. (June calendar forthcoming ASAP.)

05/22/2024

DOORS OPEN AT 6 PM, NOT 5 PM TONIGHT (due to severe weather).

This Wednesday is Game/Art Night! Because we had to cancel Art Club a couple of weeks ago and were requested to reschedule, we're combining Art Club with this week's scheduled Game Night. There won't be a specific art project or workshop, but youth are welcome to come make art or play games—or both! Doors open at 6 PM for hangout time. Game Night is from 7–9 PM.
