It’s All HBCU Love spent 10 days in Ghana exploring various regions in the country. We were able to volunteer at a remote village in Tamale, donated shoes and school supplies to the kids, ate goat soup served in beautiful pots, and learned the process of making Shea Butter. We also ventured back to the slave dungeons in Cap Coast, learned about the history, and felt the heaviness of the dungeons. We left confidently knowing that our ancestors are still present everyday and pushing us forward to greatness. After touring Cap Coast, we were welcomed back home to Africa through the welcoming arms of the Obohen Chief and his people. On Valentine’s Day, we volunteered at a STEM academy and assisted the beautiful students with their global penpal project. We gave away tshirts to students encouraging them to explore HBCUs as a college option in the future. Thanks to Rated HBCU for the inkind shirt donation for the students. Our time spent exploring Ghana, collaborating with other nonprofits, and experiencing the positive impact of this purposeful trip has us excited for the future.
Hey y’all hey
Happy February 1st!! I’m excited about a lot of 1st happening this year and hope to share most of the journey with anyone willing to listen. 💫✨⭐️🥰
I'm officially launching my nonprofit, "It's All HBCU Love," to evoke lasting social change. Born from a loving but divided HBCU household (Grambling/PVA&M/Xavier/Huston Tillotson), it aims to make positive impacts.
After noticing areas on Grambling State University's campus that needed updating during homecomings, I decided to take action. In 2018, I initiated the first project, securing approval through a proposal and gathering support from fellow alumni. Despite not living on campus for all four years, I believe in enhancing the student experience. With an in-kind donation from Lowe’s in Ruston, La., we completed a community room redesign in less than 24 hours, involving fewer than 10 people, including students.
2018 Project: Redesign community room Donation total: $1,000 cash Corporate In-Kind donor: Lowe's Timeframe: 24 hrs
