The Friday Five: Today we get literary. 5 Rock n' Roll Biographies:

1. The Dirt - Motley Crue. I've read this 5 times. The definitive guide to s*x, drugs, and rock n' roll.

2. My Appetite for Destruction - Steven Adler. Great read. A real inside look at GNR, but you can't come away without feeling bad for Steven.

3. Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin. Written by their tour manager, Richard Cole. Zeppelin's antics on tour became a roadmap for bands like Motley Crue and GNR in the 80's.

4. Ministry: The Lost Gospels according to Al Jourgenson. Good Lord. I can't think of anything else to describe this guy. Part Genius. Part Crazy.

5. Scar Tissue: Anthony Kiedis. I'm not a huge Chili Peppers fan but this is more a biography of an LA kid with a crazy childhood and the effect it had on him as an adult.

The Friday Five. Concerts

1. First Concert: Stryper at Music Mill Amphitheatre at Six Flags, 1986. I knew then that playing music was want I wanted to do with my life. Then I went to Law School....

2. Last Concert: Slayer at Toyota Music Factory 2019. Slightly different atmosphere from Stryper. I think the Devil was there.

3. Loudest Concert - LA Guns at Curtain Club 2017. Good God Almighty. I had 'Never Enough' ringing in my ears for a week.

4. Best Concert - Def Leppard at The Hard Rock Hotel in Vegas 2013. Great sound. Great Production. Played Hysteria in its entirety. Amazing.

5. Best Sounding Concert - Boston at Starplex 1997. Brad Delp had the most pure voice I've ever heard live. The high notes in 'More than a Feeling' were not studio produced.

2. Lies - Nice Boys - killer cover from a band from Australia called Rose Tattoo

3. Use Your Illusion I - Coma - a 10 minute magnum opus penned by Axl Rose.

4. User Your Illusion II - Pretty Tied Up - penned by the heart and soul of the band, Mr. Izzy Stradlin

5. The Spaghetti Incident - Down on the Farm - this song has been played live only once on April 7, 1990 at Farm Aid IV. This was the last time that Steven Adler played live with the band before being fired in July of that same year.
