Today, we celebrated at the annual Dallas AFL-CIO Labor Day Breakfast, recognizing the incredible contributions of workers across our community. We are inspired and rallied to elect pro-labor candidates up and down the ballot this November!

In observance of Labor Day, our District and Capitol offices will be closed on Monday, September 2, 2024. Our offices will reopen on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: These last 4 days were incredible! The Democratic National Convention was filled with powerful voices, inspiring messages, and a bold vision for our future.

It was great seeing so many Texans, including HD100’s very own Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, our future Senator Colin Allred , progressive leaders like Greg Casar , and my good friend and future Congresswoman State Rep. Julie Johnson .

Tonight, Gabby Giffords took the stage to remind us why we must keep fighting for gun safety. Her courage and resilience are an inspiration to all of us to continue pushing for a future where every neighborhood and school is free from gun violence. I continue to be a proud supporter of groups like Everytown for Gun Safety USA that make us safer.

Reverend Al Sharpton and the Exonerated Central Park Five just brought the fire and captivated every member of the Texas Democratic Party here at the Democratic National Convention.

He called on every American to keep fighting for the civil rights and freedoms that are the foundation of our democracy. His words remind us that the struggle for justice, equality, and true freedom is ongoing. It is up to us to carry the torch forward. We won’t go back!

The fourth and final night of the Democratic National Convention is here, and it’s packed with powerful Democratic voices. We will hear from our future Texas Senator Colin Allred, the incredible Gabby Giffords, Reverend Al Sharpton, and Governor Gretchen Whitmer, among many others. To cap off the night, our future President of the United States, Kamala Harris, will officially accept the Democratic Party nomination.

On the 4th and final day of the the Texas Democratic Party are ready to close out the convention with a bang!

This morning we heard from our next Texas senator, Colin Allred, and my colleague, Rep. Suleman Lalani, who both delivered inspiring messages about the future of Texas and our nation.

Tonight, Kamala Harris will take the stage to officially accept the nomination for Vice President, setting the tone for our fight ahead!

Nancy Pelosi just took the Democratic National Convention stage and reminded us what it means to fight for our freedoms. Her steadfast leadership and tireless advocacy have protected our democracy time and time again. I’m grateful for her unwavering dedication to the American people and her unwavering leadership.

Former President Bill Clinton captivated everyone at the Democratic National Convention with his insightful reflections on our past and his call for a renewed commitment to progress in our nation. His experience reminds us of the importance staying true to our democratic values.

The third night of the Democratic National Convention is underway and it’s all about the Fight for Our Freedoms! We’re going to hear from Democratic powerhouse leaders like Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Gov. Wes Moore, Gov. Josh Shapiro, and President Bill Clinton. And to close out the night, Gov. Tim Walz will deliver his acceptance speech for the Vice Presidential nomination.

The Texas Democratic Party are ready for our third day at the ! The great Opal Lee and Congressman Marc Veasey inspired us at this morning’s breakfast with their powerful words on justice, equality, and the importance of our continued fight. Texas is ready to lead the way!

We welcomed the United States’ 44th President, and one of the greatest Presidents of our lifetime, Barack Obama to the Main Stage at the end of the 2nd Night of the Democratic National Convention!

In 2008, President Obama brought hope back to Americans and inspired a generation to believe in change. Tonight, he took the Democratic National Convention stage to remind us what’s at stake and why we must keep fighting for our democracy.

In 2011, I had the privilege of meeting with President Obama, and I’ve been inspired by his leadership ever since. His words tonight reaffirm our commitment to a brighter, more just future for all. Hope is Back!
