MIDNIGHT CRY
"And then those that remain
Shall be quickly changed;
At the midnight cry
We'll be going home"
It’s a tough time to be a leader. Our convictions and our commitments are being tested.
But it would be a mistake to underestimate the church of Jesus Christ. Christ promised He would build His church, and even the gates of hell would not prevail against it (Matthew 16:18). And through the church, through the spiritual formation that happens when she thrives, God can send His people out to renew and reshape every domain in our culture. Into a hostile world, God is calling faithful Christian leaders both to serve within His body and to accomplish His work in the world. This is a high calling and weighty responsibility.
In order that we may faithfully take on this demanding task, we as Christ’s servants must adopt a new set of disciplines, a set of practices that can elevate them beyond the ordinary to the extraordinary. We must adopt the five essential practices for high-performance Christian leaders.
Through this seven-part series, Executive Pastor, Dr. Ben Lovvorn, will encourage you in your ministry, equipping you to be a faithful and successful Christian leader. Let’s get started!
What comes into your mind when you picture Jesus Christ? Millions of people imagine He is exactly like Jonathan Roumie. Jonathan isn’t originally from heaven but from hell---that is Hell’s Kitchen, New York. He was born there in 1974. As a child, he dreamed of being an astronaut, but in high school he decided to produce films.

Join us for Freedom Sunday, June 23, and hear an inspiring biblical message from Rear Admiral Phillip Lee Jr., a committed Christian and highly decorated military chaplain! 🇺🇸 🎆
Rear Admiral Phillip “Endel” Lee Jr. earned a Master of Divinity, Master of Religious Education, and Doctor of Philosophy degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. Lee served 11 years in the Marine Corps Reserve both as an enlisted member and as an officer, then was commissioned as a chaplain in the Navy Reserve. He has received over 18 medals, including the Navy, USCG, and Army Achievement Medals and four Meritorious Service Medals. In 2010, he was recognized as the Reserve Officers Association “Chaplain of the Year.” An ordained Southern Baptist minister, Lee has been a senior pastor, associate pastor, interim pastor, seminary professor, director of Pastoral Care and Counseling in a hospital setting, and National Coordinator of Disaster Spiritual Care for his denomination (2006–2012). Currently, he leads initiatives for planting churches near military installations to support the spiritual needs of military communities.
Martha Murphy first heard about First Baptist Dallas in 2016, and she and her husband have joined on iCampus every Sunday since early 2020. “I can’t actually attend FBD since I live in South Carolina, but I am there in heart every week," she said. Martha's son knew First Dallas had a special place in her heart, so he decided he would fly her to Dallas so she could get baptized here at our church. But when several family health issues continued to postpone Martha's trip to Dallas, she started thinking that her desire to get baptized here would never become a reality. However, she never gave up. Finally, the Lord provided a time! Though Martha is 79 and has trouble walking, she was determined, flying all the way from South Carolina to be baptized. No one is too old or too far to be baptized!
