Year In Review 2023 As 2023 comes to a close, it’s time to celebrate the amazing work God has done in and through our church family this year.

I’m so grateful for the generosity of our Watermark body that enabled us this week to significant release disaster relief funds to key partners and ministries providing emergency food, water, and shelter in Israel and surrounding areas. We were also able to release funds to our partner in Haiti to assist with the efforts there. Please continue to pray for our friends who are working hard in the most extreme circumstances. Pause for a moment and imagine your last personal “medical crisis” and how that crisis would have obliterated your savings if you didn’t have insurance or resources. Seriously…pause. Consider. Pray thankfully that you weathered the storm.

Then, take 10 minutes. Just 10 minutes out of your day. Please read carefully the lead article in the Dallas Medical Journal. Disclaimer: it will make you uncomfortable. It won’t take long. But it is SO important. So important to understand the facts. So important that our church decided 10 years ago to try and be a small…very small…part of the solution to a huge challenge facing our city.

Grateful that Watermark Health gets a mention. But it is worth your time to understand a “tale of two cities” when it comes to health care in Dallas. And it is time for the broader church to recapture it’s place in providing it to the uninsured/under-resourced. Please go to www.watermarkhealth.org for more info. We have a location at Skillman and LBJ, one in Plano, a mobile clinic, and Lord willing if our city council approves zoning in South Dallas, another at our South Dallas campus.

Dallas can become “healthier” - not just for you but for everyone. Which means healthy people can hold jobs. Can parent families. Can be contributors. If you’re looking for return on investment, it is a wise investment to invest in health care for our people!

After over a year of working hard and saving, two women in our ASIDA matched savings program have purchased cars!

We are so incredibly proud of Frances Vargas and Dulce Calderon who have committed to consistent monthly saving and Zoom group calls with other participants and volunteers to have fellowship, saving accountability, and learn about the Word of God.

This matched savings program called Financial Catalyst in partnership with Watermark Community Development Corporation (CDC). Participants complete a 12-part Faith & Finances curriculum and then are eligible to become a part of our Accelerated Savings Individual Development Account (ASIDA) Program. Individuals can access matching funds to go towards saving for a car, home, education, or business.

Frances shared she worked hard to save over this past year and was matched 4-to-1, which made the purchase of her car possible. She says, “I’m so excited for this new car. It is safe for my family and allows me to have reliable transportation for my work in Home Healthcare. I also learned a lot from group time with the other ladies and was always encouraged in my relationship with the Lord. Karla and Susie taught me that God is always good and the importance of daily reading His Word. Thank you for investing in me and making this possible!

Got to see leadership institute in action today. These kids get Bible, vocational skills, and making some corn hole sets as well! Grateful for the impact they are having in West and South Dallas!
