BIG thank you to The Moody Fund For The Arts for continuing to support what we do!
While we are celebrating the closing of La Maupin, we also wanted to take a moment to recognize the passing of our scenic designer for the world premiere of Lucha Teotl in Dallas 2021.
Matt Smith was an incredible designer to work with, he was smart, good-natured, and moved mountains to make an incredibly ambitious project a reality. He even brought in his high school students to help build the Aztec temple for our set. Who were an absolute joy to work with.
Matt Smith will certainly be missed, and we are so grateful that we had the chance to make something unforgettable with him.
Fin.
Thank you to this cast and crew for a beautiful run of La Maupin: The French Abomination.
We're proud to have the Stonewall Democrats of Dallas visiting this weekend. Visit their page to learn more.
"As we prepare to fight for our rights once again this election, the Stonewall Democrats of Dallas Board invites everyone to enjoy a peek back at LGBTQ+ history expressed in live theater!"
See you on August 2nd.

"My challenge to any audience member would be to think in the abstract when following the story. La Maupin is not linear, but that is its beauty. It’s clear that everyone gave their entire being to this production; the audience visibly was moved, and another q***r icon has seen the light of day in Dallas, Texas. The final scenes, where love and despair intertwine, were particularly commanding, and implore us to embrace all the flaws that make each of us beautifully unique. La Maupin is an unforgettable theatrical experience and will undoubtedly linger in the minds of those fortunate enough to witness it. "

Our show is based on a real person. Here's some real stuff she did:
1. Burned down a convent to free her lover
2. Dug up a dead body to replace her lover at said convent ^
3. Flirted with wealthy women at parties and dueled their husbands (and won)
4. Was a renowned opera singer
5. Was a famous, talented, bisexual duelist and performer
Come see all of this and more in our last weekend of shows!!
