The Dallas Symphony Orchestra, under the leadership of Music Director Fabio Luisi, presents the finest in orchestral music at the Morton H. The DSO is proud to celebrate Hispanic Heritage month and pay homage to the invaluable contributions of Hispanic and Latin individuals both past and present. The 2024 Hispanic Heritage Month national theme, “Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together,” perfectly encapsulates the spirit of innovation, resilience, and unity that defines the Hispanic and Latin American experience.
This month, the DSO is excited to announce the launch of our new initiative, the DSO Mosaic Performance Series on Tuesday, September 24 from 12:30-1:30pm. This series celebrates equity, diversity, and inclusion in the arts through live performances by artists who share their talents and experiences to entertain, educate and empower. This month's special guest includes musical collective El Chanclazo, featuring one of DSO's very own beloved musicians Elmer Churampi trumpet! We will also highlight the impactful work of DSO partner organization, the Greater North Texas Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. We're back! Last night's performance of Stravinsky's "Petrushka" and Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony kicked off the season's first classical concert with a bang. Volunteerism is vital to the DSO's commitment to EDI & Social Impact. Yesterday, we joined 9/11 Day alongside hundreds of other organizations across the country to pack meals for those facing hunger in observance of the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance.
Team DSO included members from our staff, chorus, DSO Young Professionals, and musicians from our DSO Young Strings program who performed "America the Beautiful" as a moment of reflection and remembrance. What an honor to come together and give back to the community in a tangible way.

Get to know English conductor Edward Gardner ahead of his performances with the Dallas Symphony:
1. He is currently Principal Conductor of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Music Director of Den Norske Opera & Ballett. He additionally serves as Honorary Conductor of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, following his tenure as Chief Conductor.
2. He was awarded an Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2012 for his contributions to British music life.
3. A passionate supporter of young talent, he founded the Hallé Youth Orchestra in 2002 and regularly conducts the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.

Earlier this month we wrapped up on another fantastic Young Strings summer chamber music camp! Students in each group had the opportunity to participate in chamber music ensembles, sectionals, music history and theory classes and perform in a final concert. Congratulations to all of these students for their hard work and dedication, and to our amazing education team for another great camp.
