Introducing Our Spotlight Kid of the Month: Holly!✨

Holly, a bright and inspiring young girl, has captured the hearts of everyone at McKenna Farms. Born with Congenital Cytomegalovirus (cCMV), a leading cause of birth defects and developmental disabilities, Holly’s story is one of resilience and determination. Despite the challenges she faces, Holly’s sunshine personality and unwavering perseverance shine through.

Holly’s physical therapist, Jenna, shares, "Holly is a true inspiration. She comes to every session with a renewed motivation to strengthen her body and become more independent. Her love for the farm, the horses, and the hard work is evident. In just six months, Holly has made significant strides in her sitting balance and overall muscle strength. She's a joy to work with, always bringing a smile to everyone's face. Her dedication and positive attitude are truly remarkable. Holly's family is incredibly supportive, working tirelessly to provide her with the best opportunities for growth. We're excited to see Holly's continued progress and look forward to starting her hippotherapy in PT sessions."

Haley, Holly’s occupational therapist, adds, "Working with Holly has been a delightful experience. Her sass and sweetness are contagious, and she has a unique ability to brighten the day of everyone she interacts with. Holly's enthusiasm for watching and engaging with other therapists and children has fostered wonderful friendships around the farm. She's even inspired a shy friend to come out of his shell. Holly's confidence and determination are admirable, and she consistently strives to improve her fine motor and bilateral coordination. Her family's unwavering support is a testament to their love and dedication. I'm incredibly proud of Holly and honored to be a part of her journey."

Holly's story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the positive impact of a supportive community. We're proud to call Holly our Spotlight Kid of the Month and look forward to celebrating her continued achievements!

Congratulations to our June Spotlight Kid, Colton!✨

His occupational therapist, Kerri, shares, “Colton is a joy to work with every week. He is always smiling, laughing and is a very hard worker. It has been amazing to see him progress in his independence in daily life and confidence in himself. Colton and his mom work as a team to carry over therapy in daily life and I'm so thankful to be a part of it all. We are so proud of you Colton!! Keep up the good work!”

“Colton is such a joy to have in PT”, says Megan. “He is so genuine and his smile is contagious. Colton has made so much progress with his balance and coordination, and he works so hard every session on anything that I ask of him. I'm so proud of him for being the June Spotlight kid, because he definitely has earned it :)”

Speech language pathologists Erin and Mary Kate say, "Colton is the most amazing child! He is always happy and has a smile and laugh that lights up a room! We have seen his speech and language grow so much over the past two years. It has been so rewarding and exciting to watch Colton make connections and use his scripts in new ways each week! He is beginning to self-generate language and express his preferences and thoughts more. We are so excited to get to be a part of Colton's team and can't wait to keep experiencing how his communication skills grow!"

We’re so proud of you, Colton! Keep up the great work!

Congratulations to our June Volunteer of the Month, Anna!🐴

Anna shares, "I began volunteering at McKenna Farms in January of this year. My daughter was starting Occupational Therapy here with Ms. Danielle. I wanted to be involved in the community that supports so many people. As a leader, I catch the equine, groom, tack, warm up and follow the therapists or instructors directions for the lesson. As a side walker, I assist the participant throughout the lesson with leg support. My favorite part about volunteering are all the incredible people I’ve met here. McKenna’s community is filled with amazing individuals. My favorite horse would be Glory, she is so sweet and spicy. I always get excited to work with her!"

We're so lucky to have great volunteers!

Congratulations to our Spotlight Kid of the Month, Alianna!✨

"McKenna Farms has been an absolute blessing for our family" shared Alianna's mom. "Alianna originally started with Chloe when she was 2 years old and completely non-verbal. Over the past 4 years she has worked so hard on her speech goals and made so much progress. We are so proud of her!"

Her SLP Chloe shared, "Alianna is my longest-running speech client. I started working with her when she was 2 and totally non-speaking. Ali has made amazing strides in her communication skills and it’s been so special to watch her grow from a toddler to now a strong, smart, fiercely independent second-grader. In speech, we started with early intervention, using basic sign language and gestures, and have now progressed to using a huge variety of complex vocabulary in sentences and conversation! She is working so hard lately on her speech sounds to make sure her opinions are heard and understood because she has so much to say! She is so bright and I can’t wait to see what she tackles next! Alianna and her whole family have a special place in my heart."

We're so proud of you, Alianna! Keep up the great work!
