Happy Juneteenth!!! Yes, another federal and state holiday, and this morning on public radio I heard the moving and celebratory reading of the Emancipation Proclamation just as it was read June 19, 1965 in Galveston, Texas, to be the last group of slaves to learn they were FREE! Then I watched the beginning of the annual Walk for Freedom in Dallas, led by 97-year-old Opal Lee who was the woman who walked her way to getting Juneteenth declared as a national holiday. Truly inspiring!

Yesterday wasn’t much of a work day as Dallas area was in the totality zone of a total solar eclipse and I enjoyed every second of it! Viewing and exclaiming on the wonder and grandeur of the universe was a full body and mind experience! Today, there’s an exuberant pep in my step even though the work is down-to-earth pedestrian.

Today is Memorial Day — the time we remember and honor the sacrifices made by our military, veterans, first responders and their families. In my family it has always been a time to fly the flag, and visit cemeteries to remember and honor all who have gone before us. In my work as a workers compensation and personal injury attorney I’ve had the honor for 35 years to represent injured first responders and military/veterans and their families. This national holiday is my warm, fuzzy, family and Country time. To all, God Bless America!

April 5, 2023 I was glad to attended the investors of Judge Nicole Taylor, Dallas County Court #5. We have the best judges around! Judge Taylor (and her husband) gave inspirational remarks that confirmed we are in good hands. Also, we both have April birthdays!

I love Thanksgiving as a time for gratitude with family and friends. It is good to see passion along with solution approach for those who want to govern, serve, or judge.

And after last week’s US Supreme Court hearing on Louisiana abortion law, pundits are predicting that Roe v Wade will be overturned. I’m saddened by erosion of personal rights. I’m more of a mindset of this guy:
