Did you know that the City of Dallas is hosting a Martin Luther King Jr. Parade next Monday? The Parade will begin at the intersection of Holmes Street and MLK Jr. Blvd at 10:00 am and proceed one mile down Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, ending right here at Fair Park. Visit us after the parade and you'll make it just in time for our noon butterfly release! 🦋

We have a lot of exciting new changes in store this year including bringing back our daily critter encounters! 🦋🐍 Join us every day at 3 pm to meet one of our resident critters! We house a variety of animals & insects including snakes, lizards, turtles, and several exotic insect species like our Madagascar hissing cockroaches or Malayan Jungle Nymphs. 🐛

Axolotl Day is coming up and we can't wait to celebrate one of our favorite amphibians! 🦎 Axolotls are a kind of salamander found only in Mexico City, Mexico. Their name comes from the Aztec god Xolotl, who transformed into a salamander and was sentenced to live in darkness forever as a water monster. The word axolotl means “water monster” in Nahuatl, the Aztec language.

Join us for our first Homeschool Day of 2024 this Thursday, January 4th from 2pm-3pm while we learn all about the jungle! 🪴 Take a guided tour in our tropical Butterfly House to learn about plant and animal jungle adaptations, then head to the gardens to learn how Texas adaptations compare to more wet jungle conditions. 🌧️

The Seven Blessings are recited under the Chuppah (wedding canopy), at the meal following the wedding and during the week after the wedding. The Sheva Brachot (seven blessings) are the heart of the Jewish wedding ceremony, and the couple may choose to honor guests to read the blessings.

We have a new exhibit for you to check out in the Discovery Gallery! 📸 Elizabeth Mellott's "Landscapes: Man Created + Self Sewn" examines two different landscapes in Texas: man-created sites (in black and white silver gelatin prints) and self sewn plants (in cyanotype photograms). This body of work compares the two different landscapes and how they are commonly perceived.

This show will be on view in the Discovery Gallery until February 24th. ✨

Christmas is right around the corner and what better way to celebrate than pictures with Santa! 🎅🎄Join us for our Christmas Family Weekend on December 9th & 10th where children 12 and under will receive FREE admission into the gardens and get their photo taken with Santa Claus!

Santa will be inside our lobby by the Christmas tree for photos with the kids from 11 am-3 pm on both days 📸 You can also decorate a pinecone in the classroom or go on a scavenger hunt around the gardens to win a prize!
