Korean War Project

Online since Feb of 1995, resource for history of the Korean War, networking among veterans and family. Interactive data files.

We also assist post-truce DMZ veterans with questions about health issues such as toxic chemicals.

A sad chapter in what should have been a celebration of life and honoring the death of a young soldier. A legacy of Jim Crow.

CPL Thomas C. Reed, Company G, 2nd Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He died June 6th, 1951. Click the images to see the full articles.

We mentioned our current project to add family data for the Korean War Casualties. Ted found this news article from the Frederick, Maryland newspaper. It features General Ridgeway writing about a New York casualty, PFC John R. Paradise who was with the 5th RCT when he was killed.

Our Change.org petition to fix the Mess at the Korean War Veterans Memorial has failed after one year.

Congress has dropped the investigation and the Department of Defense has challenged Hal Barker to file a lawsuit on the matter or shut up.

If you can, contact the Department of Defense Inspector General and ask for an investigation into how this Desecration of the Memorial happened.

Remembering: July 27th, 1953.

The Korean Armistice Agreement, signed on July 27, 1953, was the culmination of many months of bickering between officials from the United States, North Korea, South Korea, China, the former Soviet Union and United Nations forces. (excerpt from Dpt of Defense article, June 24, 2023)

We recently obtained a thumb drive of what appears to be all of the 9th Infantry Regiment muster rolls. Ted is going through all the image files to double-check. It will be a chore to organize, collate, and determine how to present them.

We have been very busy with a data mining tool that Hal created. We use it to find comments in Remembrance posts that have family members listed. Those original comments are not necessarily on the main Remembrance page. Adding family names is a key part of the use of this tool

We find obituary notices, details from family or KVETS like this one Ted found on July 9th 2024.

Major Leslie J. Parnell, inspector-instrutor, Second Tank Battalion, USMCR arranged to present a phosthumous Silver Star to a mother of a Marine who was KIA. The Keith Theater in Syracuse, New York hosted the Premiere of "Retreat Hell". Mrs. Florence Thompson, mother of Staff Sgt. Frederick Bejamin Thompson, A Company 1st Marine Regiment received fatal injuries on September 17, 1951.
