IFAA Family is deeply saddened to share that our founder Trustee Smt. Lalitha Seshadri passed away today morning peacefully. She was 89 years old. Prayers to the departed soul. Om shanthi.

Smt.Lalitha Seshadri affectionately called as "Lalitha Mami", one of the Founders of IFAA DFW needs no introduction. She has been a patron of Carnatic Music in the DFW Metroplex. She had released a CD on JAYA JAYA DEVI.

We at IFAA recently digitized this CD and will be releasing the digitized version in our youtube channel on April 28th ,Sunday -4pm.

This Digitized version of Jaya Jaya Devi is a garland of Krithis on DEVI from Varnam to Thillana in 6 languages with orchestral accompaniment.
An experience in some of the finest in music, melody and devotion, this CD is unique for a number of reasons. It is put together in a Carnatic music concert style starting with a Varnam and ending with a Thillana. The artiste has been accompanied by the rich harmony of a full orchestra, consisting of more than fifteen instruments.
The music chosen is from a veritable blend of composers, renowned to relatively unknown. But the rich talent resonates through all the compositions uniformly. The devotional content transcends language, and the music is mellifluously woven through six different languages.
Another special feature in this recording is that all the compositions glorify the Devi - Divine Mother aspect of divinity. Devi is venerated as a merciful mother, a fierce protector, a benevolent boon-giver and of course a synergistic symbol of supreme knowledge. This adoration is directed to many chosen forms of worship in the land of Bharat, from Durga in the northern lands, to Kamakshi in the tips of southern India.
This entire collection and rendering of the music reflect the devotee's pining to experience his/her Divine source in all its glory.

Smt. Sarada Karthik - Born in a family of music connoisseurs, Vidushi Sarada Karthik was initiated into Carnatic Music at the age of 4. She is an accomplished concert artist and has been performing since 1990. Her parents brought her under the able tutelage of Smt.Raji Srinivasan, a disciple of the legend Vidwan Voleti Venkateshwarulu. She is currently a disciple of Guru Sangeetha Kalanidhi Vidwan Neyveli Santhanagopalan. She has also received training sessions from Sangeetha Kalanidhi Vidwan GJR Krishnan.

Gifted with a mellifluous voice, her traditional,” bhava-oriented” music has attracted rasikas in the US and India. Her hard work, passion and dedication to the art form have received special mention from many senior artists in the Carnatic field. Her creativity and style of singing (“paatandharam”) have been favorably reviewed in a Tamil Magazine “Kungumam” and other media articles. She has also been featured in “Lekha”, and the prestigious “Sruti Magazine”. She has been actively contributing to all musical activities in the Dallas community for 24 years.

She has performed several concerts in India and USA. She has been regularly performing during Chennai “margazhi” December season since 2012 in esteemed sabhas. In India, she has performed in prestigious venues, such as Shanmugananda Hall in Mumbai, Mulund and Chembur Fine Arts Mumbai, Vani Mahal, Mylapore Fine Arts, Krishna Gana Sabha, Brahma Gana Sabha, Karthik Fine Arts, Carnatic and Parthasarathy Sabha, Hamsadhwani.

She is the founder of “Ranjani School of Music” and has been teaching for the past 18 years. Her students have won top prizes in several local and inter-regional competitions including Cleveland Tyagaraja Aradhana. Her senior students perform regularly in festivals in Dallas and few are performing concerts. Many of her students have performed in Cleveland Tyagaraja Aradhana group productions.
Her passion is in making students understand and master subtle nuances that breed higher involvement into the artform. She has received the “DroneAcharya” award from Sangeet Samrat series.

Dr. Savitha Namuduri is a musician hailing from Hyderabad, India. She started learning music at the age of 6 from Smt. V. Lalitha, later from Smt. Y. Bala Bharathi Devi and from Late. Dr. Nookala Chinna Satyanarayana. She received intensive advanced training from Guru Smt. Prema Ramamurthy, who moulded her into a concert level musician. She was further mentored by Late Sri N. S. Sreenivasan, who refined her performance techniques.

Savitha is highly indebted to her gurus and well-wishers, who provided immense support and guidance during her formative years.

Savitha was a recepient of CCRT scholarship for Carnatic Music, Junior Research Fellowship granted by the University Grants Commission (UGC). She has completed Sangeetha Alankar from Akhila Bharathiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, Mumbai.

She has also won numerous competitions, notable among which are, Tambura Prize from Kalasagaram, Secunderabad, Madras Music Academy, All India Radio and other avenues. She has performed in India and in United States.

She has been conferred awards such as Oustanding service award from TAMA, Acharya Shri from Carnatic Music Idol, USA and DroneAcharya award from Sangeeth Samrat series. She is a well respected teacher and performer, who lives in the Dallas area and has been teaching for the past 25 years in the United States. She founded Surabhi Music Academy in 2016 and has been supporting carnatic music initiatives via the academy. Her students regularly perform and compete in local events. She spearheads several music programs involving local artists and is very active in the music community.

While music is her passion, professionally, she holds a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Georgia State University, Atlanta, and works as a Data Scientist.

Rupasri Shankar is a Carnatic Vocalist from Dallas, Texas. Her initial tutoring was under Smt. Deepa Srinivasan, a senior disciple of the late Sri T.K Govindarao. Rupasri is now undergoing advanced training under Vidushi Vani Ramamurthi. Rupasri has performed at the DFW Purandaradasa Aradhana, the Institute of Global Music and Arts - Frisco, Kalamudrika, DFW Hanuman Temple, and several other local venues. Outside of Dallas and virtually, Rupasri has performed at various organizations of repute such as Naadabramha Sangeetha Sabha, Gokhale Institute, Avadootha Dattapeetam Ashram of Sri Ganapathy Sachidananda Swamiji in Mysore, Paravur Dakshina Mookambika Saraswathi Mandapam, Mani Krishnaswamy Academy, Suswara, Kala Prashala, Swara Mohini, and Gayatri Fine Arts Global. Rupasri was also the musical director for Hum a Ca****la, a collegiate vocal group at UT Austin. She has collaborated in several orchestral projects with stalwarts such as Smt. Lalgudi Viji and Kanniks Kannikeshwaran. Rupasri is a graduate in business administration and currently works as a technology consultant at Deloitte.

She is currently under the guidance of Guru Kalaimamani Vidwan Neyveli Santhanagopalan.

She has performed several concerts in many states in India and USA. She has been regularly performing during Chennai “margazhi” December season since 2012 in esteemed sabhas. Gifted with a mellifluous voice, her traditional, ”bhava-oriented” music has attracted rasikas and received appreciation from senior artists. Her creativity and style of singing “paatandharam” have been favorably reviewed in a Tamil Magazine “Kungumam” and other media articles. “Lekha”, a magazine in North America featured her article about her "Chennai margazhi experience". She has collaborated with many talented musicians in US and India for concerts and productions including the grand Chinmaya mission program “Susamkritham” for Youth empowerment. She has been actively contributing to musical activities in Dallas for local organizations since 20 years. Additionally, she has reviewed concerts of leading artists for IFAA.

Tejas Manjunath is a versatile violin artiste trained mainly in Carnatic classical tradition yet effortlessly incorporates Western and Hindustani music styles, enthralling the audience. Tejas, who completed his Master of Science in Music Technology at Georgia Tech is currently working at Harman International as a DSP Engineer. He has been learning violin for over 15 years with some of the best teachers including Vd. Tara Anand (Boston, USA), Vd. Lalgudi Rajalakshmi, Vd. Sri Yashasvi, Vd. Gururaj and currently with Padmashri Vd. A. Kanyakumari, a legend in Carnatic classical music. He has completed the highest level of proficiency “Vidwat” on the violin with highest distinction.
He and his brother, Pranav Manjunath, popularly known as “Boston Brothers”, have performed over four hundred concerts in the last six years traveling all over India, USA and Singapore. They have received several prestigious awards and accolades for their musical talent including the First Prize for Violin Duet and Instrumental Virtuoso Award at the Yuva Sangeeth Saamrat by Sri Sankara TV, title of “Nada Chintamani” and “Pratibhakankshi” to name a few. They have been featured in several newspaper articles including in The Hindu, The Times of India, Indian Express, Deccan Herald, The Hans, Prajavani, Eenadu, Sakshi and several local newspapers and magazines.
