Global Pathways is an ethnographic exhibit in DIU's Mahler building, showcasing authentic artifacts from all around the world. This diverse collection, contributed by members of the DIU community, features items ranging from textiles and jewelry to ritual objects and even a piece of the Berlin Wall. Global Pathways brings the world's cultures to life, offering students a rich, global experience right on campus! Dallas International University mourns the loss of Dr. Mike Cahill, our esteemed Adjunct Assistant Professor of Applied Linguistics, who passed away on June 21, 2024. Dr. Cahill's career spanned five decades, during which he made significant contributions to linguistics, particularly in African languages, phonology, and orthography development. As a Senior Linguistics Consultant and Orthography Services Coordinator, he played a crucial role in advancing Bible translation and literacy efforts worldwide. Dr. Cahill's extensive research, numerous publications, and dedicated service have left an indelible mark on the field. His passion for linguistics, commitment to endangered languages, and genuine care for others will be deeply missed by our academic community and beyond. The DIU community continues to keep Dr. Cahill's loved ones in our prayers as we remember his incredible impact and celebrate his life.

Despite being disabled and discouraged from even trying to read, Magui persevered in literacy classes taught by DIU alumni Dave and Stacey Hare. Her life was transformed as she learned to read the Bible in her own Kwakum language. Discover Magui's inspiring story:

What difference does a DIU education make?
DIU alumnus Adam is collaborating with the Bhogoto community in the Central African Republic to translate the complete Bible into their language. After years of hard work, this team has accomplished major milestones - a completed New Testament translation and over 70% of the Old Testament drafted. And they've just secured funding to power through the remaining Old Testament!
The whole Bible The Bhogoto people have the New Testament in their language, but they need the whole Bible to get the full picture.

DIU to Award Honorary Doctorate to Karl Franklin During DIU's 25th Commencement Ceremony, Dr. Franklin will receive an honorary PhD, celebrating his significant contributions to the field of linguistics.
Last month, DIU's Dr. Robin Harris helped lead a workshop for Bible translators in Türkiye, focused on how ethnoarts can make Scripture come alive for people!
Dr. Harris was moved by the 170 individuals representing 40 different language projects in attendance, but she what she didn't know was that the Lord had even greater things in store for her during this week-long workshop! However, our MA with a major in World Arts is growing rapidly with concentrations in Applied Arts, Arts & Islam, Arts & Scripture Engagement, and Linguistics. We added a Ph.D. in World Arts in fall 2019. Our Applied Anthropology department also offers an MA with a major in Language and Culture Studies with a wide range of concentrations for students interested in Literacy, Islamic Worldviews, Language Survey, Sociolinguistics, and Scripture Engagement. The Abraham Center also offers an MA with a major in Abrahamic Studies.
Undergraduate students are also a priority at Dallas Int’l! Our College of International Service offers courses for a full BA with a major in International Service and minors in Linguistics, World Arts, Cross-cultural Studies, and Abrahamic Studies.
