Did you know the classic dish of spaghetti and meatballs was not invented in Italy? 🍝
Italian immigrants first brought the idea of meatballs to America. These Italian Americans who emigrated here between 1880 and 1920 found that making meatballs was very budget-friendly in America, and to bulk up the meal, they added pasta and a sauce made with canned tomatoes.
We still enjoy this Italian American classic today, so stop by Campisi’s to celebrate tradition and order some spaghetti and meatballs!

Did you know that in the early beginnings of the Campisi’s story, we didn’t serve pizza? After World War II, Papa first bought a bar with a small kitchen called the Idle Hour, and it wasn’t until his cousin visited from New York and suggested they sell “Pizza Pies,” because they were so popular in the big city. That was when Texas’s first pizza ever was created.

Our Sautéed Shrimp Scampi wows our guests with eight gulf shrimp sautéed beautifully in a garlic butter sauce to complement the natural flavors of this seafood dish. The shrimp and garlic butter is then tossed with angel hair pasta to soak up the extra sauce. 🍤

A popular appetizer is our calamari, but what makes it so tasty?
The fresh calamari rings are coated in a simple mixture of flour, salt, oregano, and pepper then fried for a few minutes. Once the crispy rings are dry and plated, we splash them with lemon, sprinkle on some Romano cheese, and serve them with a marinara dipping sauce. Yum!😋🦑

Enhance your dining experience with wine pairings from the chef:
1. Pair the Meat Supreme with Whitehavent Sauvignon Blanc.
2. Pair the Cali Pizza with 11 Minutes Italian Rosé.
3. Pair the Chicken Spinach Alfredo Pizza with Wente Riva Ranch Chardonnay.

In general, if the toppings are high in acidity like tomatoes, pair your pizza with a high-tannin red or rosé. If your pizza is mostly cheesy, pair it with a more acidic wine like a Pinot Noir. Let the wine balance your palate by offering a complementary mouthfeel.🍷🍕

Did you know that back in 1971, Campisi’s was granted one of the first liquor licenses in Texas after prohibition? 🍾
