In this season of giving, we are pleased to announce that we recently distributed grants and scholarships totaling $29,350 to Flagler County Non-Profit agencies and an additional $8,644 to the United Way Community Impact Fund, which serves nonprofits in both Volusia and Flagler Counties, an increase of $20,000 over last year. Thank you to everyone that donated and sponsored our 15th Annual Power of the Purse event held in April - you were a major in making these distributions possible!
Allocations were made to fifteen agencies: EasterSeals of NE Florida, Abundant Life Ministries, AdventHealth, Children’s Home Society, Christmas Come True, Family Life Center, Flagler Cares, Flagler Volunteer Services, Florida United Methodist Children’s Home, I Just Want to Say Women’s Group, Presbyterian Counseling, SMA WARM, Teens in Flight, The House Next Door and WaterSafe Inc.
In addition to these grants, Women United Flagler donated two $1,000 high school scholarships to FPC and Matanzas and a $3000 community champion donation to Dolly Parton Imagination Library which provides books to children from newborns up to five years old. Chicks with Cans also donated $3500 to Team Feed Flagler to assist families in need at Thanksgiving.

Women United Flagler Chapter is pleased to announce the appointment of Kaitlyn Stier as Vice President of Women United Flagler.
Kaitlyn joined the Palm Coast Observer in April as the Director of Engagement. She enjoys a highly successful career in Marketing and Corporate Event Planning and will bring her experience and talents to WUF. She is deeply committed to helping those in need in our community.

As Thanksgiving quickly approaches, we are asking for help providing a Thankgiving basket of food for our families. If you notice any "Buy One, Get One" sales, please consider donating the free item to a family in need. Food donations can be dropped off at our Administrative Office Monday - Friday between 9:00am - 4:00pm. Thank you!

♻️ Got Plastics??? ♻️ ~ Have you got plastic bags from Publix, Target, Dollar General or plastic films like the ones that are used for cases of water? Please don't throw them out... we recycle them here in Flagler Beach! You can drop the plastic bags and plastic film off at drop boxes at the following locations here in Flagler Beach;
1. The Flagler Beach Police Department
2. The Flagler Beach Fire Department
3. Flagler Beach City Hall
4. The 7-11 Store at 408 South Oceanshore Boulevard

We are seeking volunteers for Chicks with Cans on Oct 21 & 22.
If you can, please recruit a friend or co-worker to join you. Our goal is to have at least 2 people at each Publix time slot.
This year there will be two shifts:
Shift #1: 10am – Noon
Shift #2 Noon – 2:00pm

The money collected will go to Feed Flagler.

Our Story
Women United Flagler is a chapter of United Way of Volusia/Flagler Counties with over 50 active members who give, advocate and volunteer. Women United Flagler's mission is to create positive, measurable, long term change in the lives of women and children of Flagler County by focusing on root causes and pooling resources to increase our impact. Funds raised through Women United go to help women and children above and beyond the normal activities of the United Way with 80% allocated by Women’s United and 20% going to the United Way Community Fund.
Since 2009, we have had many successes between our volunteer work and socials raising money for grants distributed to agencies who apply. We have held a total of four socials this year—some purely fundraisers and others FRIENDraisers. Our signature event, The Power of the Purse was sold out and raised over $12,000. We also teamed up with Florida Hospital Flagler and Flagler Free Clinic and held a High Tea and raised over $18,000.
We are well known for Chicks with Cans in Flagler County which stand outside local Publix’s and collect food for local food pantries. We hold our food drive twice a year; the spring drive is focused to restock local food pantries for the summer, when school is out of session and the Fall drive is dedicated to Team Feed Flagler, which we have remained 1st place winners since it began in 2010. All monetary donations are used to purchase food through second harvest food bank. It is estimated we raise around 60,000 lbs of food annually.
To date, we have distributed over $17,500 in grants to local agencies, such as The Flagler Education Foundation, Teens-In-Flight, Family Life Center, Family Promise, Samaritan Ministries, Early Learning Coalition, Reading Pals Etc
