As part of our seasonal preparations for McKoy Pool, we undertook several maintenance tasks, including repairing the expansion joints, pressure washing the pool, completing a mechanical inspection, servicing the equipment, and filling the pool. However, during this process, we discovered a water leak.
A professional leak detection company conducted a thorough inspection and identified the source of the leak in the main drain. Subsequent pressure tests and camera inspections revealed that the pipe beneath the main drain, as well as one of the return lines, require repairs.
Repair work is scheduled to begin at the end of this week. Unfortunately, due to the location and extent of the leaks, McKoy Pool will remain closed for the summer season.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and a will do our best to make sure McKoy Pool is open for the 2025 summer pool season.
UPDATE: Great news! Ebster Pool reopens tomorrow, July 9th, with regular hours from 9am-4pm. See you there!
Due to a mechanical issue Ebster pool is temporarily closed. Check back for updates. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Update on McKoy Pool Status
The pool has not yet opened for the summer. As we were preparing McKoy Pool for the season, we repaired the expansion joints (allowing the pool to expand in hot weather), pressure washed the pool, completed the mechanical inspection and service of the equipment, and filled the pool. However, we discovered that the pool was losing water. A leak detection company thoroughly inspected the pool and identified the leak in the main drain.
The next step is to complete a pressure test and run a camera in the pipe to determine the severity of the leak. Once we have their report, we will be able to provide more information on whether this is a problem that can be fixed quickly or a capital project that will require more extensive work.
We apologize for the inconvenience. Please visit decaturga.com/aquatics for updates and for operating hours for Ebster, Glenlake and Oakhurst pools.
