Welcome to the Demarest Volunteer Fire Department. We have proudly served our town continuously since 1894. Please take a look around.
The Department is staffed entirely by volunteers; doctors, landscapers, plumbers, electricians, dispatchers and career firefighters. 27 members, willing to help you in your time of need. There are some interesting things here that you might not know about.

Huge shout out to Paul’s House of Fish for taking care of the department with an amazing dinner. The boys will definitely be coming back for a second round!
During Tuesday nights storm a Swift Water Task Force was requested into the City of Englewood to assist with multiple water rescues and emergencies due to the flooding throughout the City. Five of our Techs along with 24-High Water responded and operated for about 4 hours before returning to the Valley.

This morning members from the PD and FD participated in the Demarest 5K followed by the Fun Run with kids from County Road School and Luther Lee Emerson School. Thanks to all who came out to support the runners.
9 Engine currently standing by in Ridgefield Park while they lay one of their own to rest. Our thoughts and prayers are with the members of the Ridgefield Park Fire Department.
Thank you, Demarest Fire Department for giving our youngest scouts a tour of your house and vehicles. We had a blast!

Whether it’s putting out fires or rescuing a man from under a boulder, at the Demarest Fire Department, led by Chief John McLoughlin, have consistently dedicated their lives to keeping our community safe.

Chief John McLoughlin, Assistant Chief Carl Pavlik, Captain John Young, Lieutenant Matt Carey, FF Kyle Pavlik and FF Mike Morrison were nominated for and received the “Hometown Hero” award for a water rescue in Demarest last September. Congressman Gottheimer presented the award at Bergen PAC in Englewood.
As part of ongoing efforts to provide greater efficiency and safety for members and civilians during emergencies involving buildings and residences containing Elevators, the Closter, Demarest, and Haworth Fire Departments spent this Saturday receiving both classroom and hands on field instruction covering basic Elevator controls, operations, & techniques from a first responders viewpoint. Thank you to the Bergen County Fire Academy for providing this useful and informative program !

The Demarest FD operated at a 2 alarm fire in Closter today. The “south box” was initially transmitted and a 2nd alarm was struck upon arrival.
Battalion 2 South box initially dispatched for a structure fire.2nd alarm on arrival..great teamwork with all departments on scene and for coverage.
Our gym is officially completed. Huge shoutout to Varsity House and Elite FTS for helping us along the way and making our department as a whole better over the last 6 weeks. Special thanks to Dan Goodman and Joe Riggio for all the time and effort put into making this idea come to life.
