I can't thank my community enough. Although there are roughly 4000 votes still to be counted, I am very proud of the work that was done to get to this point. It's humbling to see the level of support that I've gotten from such a diverse group of people. The work continues, and I will forever be grateful no matter the outcome.

Shontel models what true leadership in our community looks like. I am honored to have her support in this race. She believes in me and I will work hard as your District 4 Director improving the outcomes of all of our children.

Phoenix is an example of the success I want for my daughter and the many other young women of color. I want our students to understand that anything is possible for them with hard work and dedication. I appreciate this endorsement from a strong leader and community member.

Lakisha is a woman that seems to be everywhere at once. She is a dedicated community leader exemplifying service, business, and family. It is with great pride to earn her support and I will work tirelessly to live up to her expectations.

No matter where you stand on things please exercise your right to vote. Find sources you trust for guidance on the issues and let your voice be heard. The most impact is made in local elections.

Don't sleep on this election, D9: There’s some serious Empire Strikes Back energy on this year’s ballot, with big-money interests and dark money funding a lot of it. Odd-year elections historically have the lowest voter turnout, and as of today, fewer than 6% (!!!) of potential ballots have been cast.

This means that a tiny number of well-funded people may get to potentially rewrite important aspects of the city's policies around desegregating our neighborhoods, housing, and homelessness and decide how taxpayer dollars (YOUR money) will be tied up for years to come.

Ballots must be received by 7 PM on Tuesday, November 2. It's too late to mail in your ballot, so find your nearest drop-box and other info at DenverVotes.org.

Elections present us with the opportunity to perpetuate oppression or to choose justice, so get informed, get involved, and VOTE, D9!

This endorsement hits close to home. Tramaine and I are aligned on a lot of things. I remember talking about our campaigns early on. Our passion for community and uplifting kids like our own can't be understated. I stand with this husband, father, teacher, community leader and future APS School Board member. I appreciate his endorsement.

"Gene is the best candidate because he genuinely has our students best interest at heart. From his experience in the classroom as a teacher to being a dynamic father, he sets the new standard for who deserves a seat at the table. Gene and his leadership is what we need in our district. As a current teacher in DPS, I gladly endorse Gene Fashaw to represent District 4 on the school board."

Endorsement Alert!!!!

Bushenga Kulinda Shamba AaronAli is an amazing human being. The work he does in the community helps our children tap into themselves and embrace mindfulness, artistic expression, and a strong sense of self. The hope we have for our children is for them to be seen, heard, and cared for. I appreciate his support and look forward to working together for years to come.

"I have witnessed Gene in community as a youth when I played basketball at the Green Valley Ranch Rec Center and recently got to know him on a greater level as co-creators in community. I saw Gene very actively coaching and supporting my peers on the court. Then we joined the Moonshot Fellowship together this year and I realized he was a math teacher who is running for the DPS District 4 School Board as well. I think it’s rare to see someone navigate spaces where youth venture so fluidly, yet be their authentic self throughout the process. From the genuine conversations with his Mom and wife, to working with youth and families on and off the court or classroom, Gene Fashaw represents what community is about."

Improving education for Black students: Codifying goals on paper, such as the board’s 2019 Black Excellence resolution, is a first step, Fashaw said. What matters next, he said, is how individual schools put the requirements into action.

“We have pockets of success but we need the entire district to be successful in that, whether [a school has] a large Black student population or not,” he said.

Some endorsements hit a little closer to home. As black men we have shared experiences that few can understand. I am happy to have the support of such a staunch advocate for marginalized people. It is that same passion I hope to bring to the school board as we push forward an agenda that improves outcomes and opportunities for BIPOC students. Thank you Parris Lashawn

It is humbling when leaders in Denver choose to endorse me in this race. To have a woman like Rosemary Rodriguez in my corner further motivates me to do the work necessary to improve outcomes for our children. My experience represents that dedication, and it will carry me through my duties as a board director. Please join Rosemary in support of on election day.

In the last last 12 days of this campaign I could use your help. My tireless service to the community and experience as a current math teacher would be an asset to DPS. I need about $5000 to finish the campaign strong. I am a servant leader dedicated to the outcomes of our children and improving conditions for our teachers and staff. Please donate any amount at www.gene4dps.org it is through my community that this is possible and we can't let up the momentum.

I can't believe we are two weeks from election day. It has been an amazing journey running for Denver Public Schools Board. As a classroom teacher I see first hand the failures of meeting the needs of all students, especially our most marginalized. The difficulties with mental wellness and social emotional development is an issue all of our students face. The deficit we approach students of color, English language learners, and our exceptional students is not serving our kids best interest. Developing the whole child in practice must become engrained in every one of our schools. Our schools, staff, and curriculum must also reflect the diversity of our district everywhere. It is here that true change and liberation begins to take place.

Recognizing the value of each and every person in our district must become the norm as well. Our custodians, food service, maintenance, paras, bus drivers, must also be heard knowing many of them have children in DPS as well. It is though them that our schools function.

Lastly our communities must be actively involved in the decision making processes. Specifically what happens to their schools and their children. DPS is in service of the people not the other way around. We need to act like it. Please join me in this fight for change by voting for Gene Fashaw Sr. For District 4 Director.

10/19/2021

Through it all these three have kept me grounded and connected to what really matters. In a race where lies and half truths are being distributed like Halloween candy, I am beyond happy that my family remains strong. No matter the outcome on November 2, my work uplifting the people and communities too often forgotten and ignored will continue. My dedication to the students and schools left to fend for themselves will continue. My service to those that need it most will continue. Do your research and vote in all elections and become informed on what and who impacts you most.

I have worked with Topazz McBride for years with Shop Talk Live. We have both given our time and effort to uplift our community. To have her support means so much. The time and effort given selflessly can often go unnoticed. She notices it. She stated,

"He has served first as a dedicated teacher in the classroom for years. In that capacity he has direct knowledge, experience and first hand heart break to the deficits, break downs, voids, disparities and frustrations our children and faculty experience and are expected to thrive through on a working day basis.

GENE has proven to be dedicated and sold out to the schools and students of the Greater Northeast, representing deep disparities. They carry the weight for being overlooked and dismissed way to often, as evidenced by years of suppressed, ignored outcries from parents, students and the over all Community.

His loyalty has come in the heat of more prosperous opportunities since earning his second Masters degree this past summer, and being accepted in a highly respected Fellow program.
Gene is committed to the district and has remained loyal and faithful to the underserved students as well as community throughout and in spite of continuous struggles and controversy in the District. His steadfastness has proven his long-term commitment and willingness to field the storms along the way!

I stand with, by and for Gene Fashaw, the much Needed Candidate for Denver Public Schools!"

My campaign for school board in Denver Public Schools has shown me that the time is now for true change. Our children deserve to be put in a position to succeed. To have access to every opportunity to live their best life. It must be a requirement of our institutions that all children succeed, feel seen, and leave our care ready for the world. I hope to earn the support of every student, family, and community member as we work towards improving the outcomes of all of our children. Follow me at
