Did you know you can rent the Heritage Carousel?! With the season winding down, there are even more dates available. Private rentals can be any weekday or weekend after "open hours" in September. Rentals are also available later in the fall season weather permits. You can also choose "unlimited-use" rentals during our open hours to the public.

Union Park Spring Egg Hunt!

Mark your calendars for the Union Park Spring Egg Hunt! This event starts at 10 am with the hunt for eggs! The hunt is divided by age groups so everyone gets a shot at finding some eggs. After the egg hunt, hop over to the Heritage Carousel for a free ride on the Carousel! The Easter Bunny will be there as well. Can't wait to see you!

A Very Merry Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who came out to Light Up The Carousel with us last night! We had a huge crowd with nearly 600 Carousel riders joining us. Cocoa and cookies were enjoyed by all as they waited eagerly to ride the Carousel and visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

A huge shout out to the members of the UPNA who help organize this event every year as well as the Des Moines Carousel Foundation board members. Also, big thanks to Chocolate Storybook for donating the tasty cookies and to Capt. Roy's and Polk County Supervisors for all of their support. We could not continue to bring these wonderful events to you if not for the support of our community.

2023 Carousel Season Ending Oct. 1

The Heritage Carousel in Union Park will close for the season on Sunday, October 1. The Carousel will be open to the public Saturday and Sunday beginning at 11 am.

Thank you to everyone who supported us this season. The Carousel could not continue to operate without the financial support of the community. This season marked the 25th year of operation for the Carousel, which was celebrated on June 25th with a big event. We also hosted the 22nd Annual Cruise to the Carousel on August 27. Thanks to everyone who helped make those events a success!

Holland Farms Residents Visit Heritage Carousel

The Carousel had some special visitors yesterday. Several residents from Holland Farms came to learn about the Carousel and have a few rides. It was truly a magical morning!

The rain has stopped and it's a beautiful day to ride the Heritage Carousel! The carousel is open and waiting for you! Rides are just 50 cents for kids and $1 for adults.

Important Notice! Due to the excessive heat forecast for today and tomorrow (July 27 and 28), the Heritage Carousel will be closed. We will reopen to the public on Saturday, July 29 at 11:00 am. In addition, Storytime at the Carousel scheduled for Friday, July 28 at 10:30 has been canceled. Thank you!

Join us for Story Time at the Carousel this Friday, July, 14 at 10:30 am. Miss Alicia, from the North Side Library, will be there with stories, songs, dancing, and a craft to do in the park or take home. Everyone will get a free Carousel ride after story time. Our last story time of the 2023 season will be Friday, July 28.

Carousel Painting won by Nichole King!

Nichole King was the winner of the Carousel Painting created by Susan Grant at the Heritage Carousel 25th Anniversary Celebration on Sunday. Nichole picked up the painting yesterday at the Carousel and says she already knows where it will hang! Congratulations Nichole and thank you to everyone who came out to support us on Sunday.
