This move only impacts in-person appointments. Our virtual/telehealth appointments will continue without interruption!

As of September 1st, our office will be located in Windham, NH! Check out the website for the updated address, or feel free to send us an email with any questions ☺️ I’ll be updating the website with that information soon.

The move feels bittersweet, as we’ll no longer have a physical presence in the seacoast area; however, we are so excited to see F&F flourish in a new space!!

Watch us grow, again! 🌱 Please help us welcome our newest team member, Jacs! 🥳

Jacs (he/him) enjoys solving the NYT crossword puzzles, spending time with family, and rock climbing! He also has a cutie toddler he gets to chase around in his “free time”.

Jacs brings a deep understanding of the unique nutritional needs within the LGBTQ+ community. He understands the value in addressing nutritional challenges related to gender dysphoria, body dysmorphia, and additional body image concerns.

Beyond the clinical work, he is very passionate about education and advocacy in promoting inclusive healthcare practices. He often engages in public speaking to raise awareness about imperative health needs of the transgender population. Currently, he’s pursuing a combined MS/PhD program at MGH Institute of Health Professions 😎

I’m sure you can see why I asked him to join our incredible team!! Can’t wait for you to meet him.

Jacs will be available to meet with clients starting the second week of July! He will be out of network with insurance for a bit so can meet with clients out of pocket and offer a superbill 👏 Check out his bio on the website to learn more ☺️🪴

Still coming down from the high felt at the with sharing the same room as people of whom I’ve received great mentorship, people who have supported our practice in some way, and humans whom I admire greatly!! It feels incredible to learn from such compassionate and knowledgeable providers.

I keep describing the experience with using the analogy of when you’re at a wedding and you see so many people you love in one room, but are unable to talk to everyone because of the schedule of events.

1. Courtney and Marissa get to see each other in person again ☺️👏
2. A handful of amazing NH clinicians and coworkers 💪
3. Heidi and Courtney beaming with happiness after getting to share hugs 🤗

If we met at the conference, please keep in touch! We need this community support to continue feeding our needs and flourishing as providers and humans! (See what I did there?)

Check-in: Why do (or don’t) I Move my Body? — Feed & Flourish 12/27/2022

We hope you're having a wonderful holiday season and wish you all the happiness and love during this upcoming New Year.

Our team member, Kelsey, wrote a wonderful blog post to help you reflect on reasons why you do (or don't) move your body. We invite you to read it and reflect on your relationship with movement as we start to experience an influx of the "New Years' resolution" conversations. Spoiler alert: you don't have to set resolutions, especially ones that have to do with dieting!!

Enjoy!!

Warmly,
Courtney, Kelsey, Marissa :)

Check-in: Why do (or don’t) I Move my Body? — Feed & Flourish So, how do you know if your relationship with movement is problematic, healthy, or somewhere in between? Use these reflective questions to help you better understand your relationship with movement and if it could use some attention.

We’re baaaack for another round of Read & Flourish - our therapeutic book club that offers a space to explore the anti-diet, intuitive eating, body image healing themes of books written by some really incredible authors who have offered us so much wisdom and guidance in moving away (with a big middle finger) from diet culture. Along with these impactful readings comes thought provoking discussions, a sense of community as you offer and receive support from the rest of the group, and an opportunity to reflect on ways in which this diet or wellness culture has been a nuisance (not to mention harmful).

We’re thrilled to be reading Fitness for Every Body by Meg Boggs !! The theme for this series is intuitive movement. As we approach New Year’s and “new year resolutions” 🙄, we thought the theme would be fitting. If you’ve had a tough experience with your relationship with movement historically or even currently, this could be what you’re looking for!

This group is for all bodies and beings with no limitations other than it being for 18 y/o and older. If you are questioning your appropriateness for the group then please contact Marissa at [email protected]

We’re asking all the questions on this Tuesday morning☕️ Good thing we have Kelsey here to answer them and offer invaluable insight!

As always, we’re here to remind you that you are SO much more than your weight in kilograms over your height in meters squared. Your health is SO much more complicated than your pants size. Your wellbeing is more important than the amount of adipose tissue your body holds. You deserve health care that feels respectful, safe, and that focuses on you and what is important to you. An invitation to pause for reflection as we head into the weekend 🪷 Rest sounds nice, doesn’t it? But maybe connecting with friends would also fill your cup!

Whatever it may be, it will never be too “small” of a gesture AND it matters because you matter.

09/01/2022

Have you ever heard of fatphobia or the way in which this fear manifests via stigmatization and discrimination? Chances are you have given that current research illustrates that weight-based discrimination has increased by 66% over the past decade.

Fatphobia is defined as “the implicit and explicit bias of…individuals [living in larger bodies] that is rooted in a sense of blame and presumed moral failing.”

We live in a society that amplifies diet culture and reinforces the idea that smaller bodies are superior to larger bodies. This is why people living in larger bodies are prescribed the same behaviors that someone with an eating disorder is getting help for.

You may be wondering “how can I help to stop it?” Unlearning weight stigma can be hard for many people as it is so deeply ingrained in our society.

➡️ Marissa wrote a really wonderful article that further explains the definition of fatphobia and its roots, weight stigma, stigmatizing language, and offers some ways we can reflect on how we’ve experienced the wrath of these judgements and biases - whether we’ve been the recipients or the contributor (spoiler alert, you’ve been both!)

We’re growing and flourishing even more! ✨
I’d like to also introduce, Marissa, to the Feed & Flourish team! I am thrilled to have her join us! 🥳

Marissa describes herself as a self-proclaimed foodie and plant lover. 🪴She sees food as being meant to be enjoyed and believes food can not only taste great, but can also represent culture, traditions, and be the cornerstone of good memories! She is passionate about cultivating a safe space to help your health or strengthen your relationship with food and your body, while also challenging diet culture norms. She believes that all bodies are good bodies that are worthy of unbiased, equal, and respectful care.

In her free time, Marissa enjoys reading (fantasy and sci-fi), gardening, experimenting with new recipes and exploring Trader Joe’s new and seasonal items! Marissa has a Master’s degree and is a Registered Dietitian.

She also sounds like a good fit for the Feed & Flourish team, doesn’t she!? ➡️ Learn more about Marissa on our website (link in bio). We’ll keep you updated on when Marissa is able to take on new clients! ✨

We can’t introduce Kelsey without introducing her adorable companions - Buster (pictured here) and Ellie (not pictured but I’m sure you’ll meet her at some point). She enjoys traveling, food, being outdoors - especially hiking, practicing yoga, and having s’mores by the campfire. She enjoys helping people to redefine wellness for themselves because she understands it isn’t just about food, movement or even body image .. rather it’s about savoring the moment, living unapologetically and getting out of our heads and into our bodies! ✨ Kelsey is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor!

She sounds like a good fit for Feed & Flourish, huh?! I’d say yes! 🙋🏼‍♀️ Learn more about Kelsey on our website (link in bio). ➡️ She is scheduling new clients now! Out of pocket pay only at the moment, pending insurance contract updates, and appointments are virtual only.

Our little mascot is here to say we have some very exciting news to share soon! 🥳 Follow along to find out!!!

(Check out the onesie with the F&F logo we were gifted 🥹 )

Disclaimer because I follow too many dog training accounts: Tuukka is nervously sniffing but has been slowly becoming more comfortable around Lucien and we’re closely supervising every dog-baby interaction🙃

His reaction when I told him he had to see some clients for me ☹️😆

I’ll be returning to the office next week! It’s bittersweet knowing that I’ll have to leave this little one during the day; however, I’m feeling as passionately as ever about dismantling diet culture, supporting folx throughout their recovery, educating loved ones, normalizing all bodies, and last but not least, seeking further education and training for myself!

I will be very part time for a bit - only seeing clients Monday’s and Thursday’s - and we’ll see how that goes for now 🤷🏼‍♀️ I’m going to try to balance this whole business owner / mama role. Thanks for bearing with me!

See you soon 🤗🪴

Interrupting maternity leave to introduce the newest member of the practice! This is Lucien, you can also call him Luke. Lucien means light in French and this little light was finally born on Sept 18th after making us all patiently wait for his arrival ✨

He loves his hands and is still trying to figure them out. He’s already changed and grown so much these past 2 weeks. He’s amazing.

As cute and snuggly as he is, the newborn stage is hard! We’re still trying to figure out his wants and needs, his cries, how much he needs to eat, if his poops are normal, if I’m producing enough breastmilk for him, why he spit up, and so much more. So many unknowns but loving this adventure already!

For anyone wondering, his dog brothers have adjusted so well! Frodo doesn’t understand boundaries and just wants to lick his entire face. Tuukka is curious and gentle but gets nervous when the baby cries. We’re all in love 🥰

The Herstory of the Business

Courtney founded Feed & Flourish Nutrition Therapy after years of working as a Registered Dietitian (RD) treating eating disorders at the outpatient level. Soon after moving to New Hampshire, she noticed that there was a need for another outpatient dietitian with a weight-inclusive, non-diet approach to nutrition counseling. For folks living in the Seacoast area of New Hampshire, there is certainly a gap in resources and treatment opportunities for those who are (or have) lived with disordered eating behaviors and/or for those who meet the clinical diagnostic criteria for an eating disorder.

Feed & Flourish intends to be a safe zone for individuals to share their experiences, feel all of the emotions, and find healing in a judgement-free, confidential space. You can be seen regardless of body shape/size, gender, ethnicity, race, age (over 13 years).

You are in the right place if you: engage in disordered eating behaviors, have been diagnosed with an eating disorder by your clinician, have a history of chronic dieting, experience weight cycling, want to expand your dietary intake, or encounter challenges with your body image. If you’re not sure that you check any of these “boxes”, please call or email and you and Courtney can work together can determine as to whether or not you’re in the right place. Life is more than fitting in these “boxes” in which we can often place ourselves.

For now, Feed & Flourish is a one-woman business! Feel free to contact with any questions or concerns. Thank you for being here!
