Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) has reduced its teacher vacancies to 20 just a week before the 2024-2025 school year starts, marking a significant improvement from previous years. The district has actively recruited through job fairs, job boards, and university partnerships, hiring over 1,700 new employees, including 98% of its student teachers from last year. Additionally, GCPS has fully staffed all bus driver positions, ensuring reliable transportation for 135,000 students.

I'm thrilled to begin an exciting Senior Capstone Experience with a student from GSMST. Supporting students one adventure and opportunity at a time. Monday's meet-up was a fantastic opportunity to connect with this year's intern and his family.

Community means showing up for others. Congratulations to Danielle and Nico! Danielle had a successful proclamation for Level Up Day, and Nico graduated from Gwinnett 101 as part of the 18th cohort. Being a community connector means supporting our community leaders.

Domonique recently had the wonderful opportunity to engage with students at Crews Middle School as a business coach, guiding discussions on finances and financial literacy. Collaborating with the amazing teacher, Mr. Hames, always brings Domonique joy. Today, Domonique received letters from some of the students in the mail, which was a delightful surprise. It was a true joy for Domonique to open these letters and realize the impact made on the community, despite the onset of summer.

She acknowledges the critical role of trained substitutes in ensuring the proper dispensation of medications, providing first aid for various injuries, and addressing unexpected illnesses. Domonique advocates for support for Gwinnett County Public Schools and encourages others to recognize the vital work of school nurses.

Domonique was proud to serve as a judge for Duluth High School PTSA this year. It was an honor for her to review essays, provide feedback, and score each one. She sends her best wishes and congratulations to the recipients today. Over the years, Domonique has generously provided scholarships and served as a judge on multiple occasions. Supporting local public school students in their post-secondary plans has always been a joy for her.
