A video of the northern lights from Thursday night's solar storm. Crazy thing is these were clearly visible in the middle of Duluth's Lakeside/Lester Park neighborhood. More often than not, city lights will drown out the displays, but Thursday's solar storm might have been the best for northern lights viewing in this area since the 2015 storm.

You just don't see lights like this IN THE CITY often, but that's one the amazing things about Duluth. I think the last time they were close to this intense in the city was the 2015 storm. You could see them dance, pulsate and ripple with your naked eyes. It was like something out of a movie seeing the fast-moving charged particles jetting across the night sky from north to south. And you really know they're cooking when you look straight up and see the same thing.

Spent part of a day near Isabella, Minn. for MPR News in areas heavily affected by the Greenwood Fire. The The Nature Conservancy in Minnesota is working with different state agencies to plant tens of thousands of trees in the area to restore and diversify the forest and to withstand anticipated climate changes in the future.
