July 23rd through the years. It’s never right or whole but somehow we’ve survived 10 of them.

10 years ago the lights went out. We lost our baby, our future, our faith - everything we’d ever known to be true. We’ve built around this Jude-shaped hole, but gosh, I wish I got to see him dominate at TopGolf today.

April is organ donor awareness month and The Cody Barrasse Foundation is a gold sponsor at this year’s race. Our lives connect and cross in many ways with the Barrasse family — a lot of those connections, I wish we didn’t have. But we do and their family has served as a beautiful example of how to continue the legacy of their child and the strength it takes to do so.

Cody’s memory lives on through this foundation and also lives lives on through the eight lives he saved with his organ donation. The youngest was an 18-month-old with an abnormal liver.

Today is Jude’s 10th birthday. Double digits. A Friday night birthday. We would have had cake. Would we have had it at our house? Or would he want it somewhere else? What would his “big” gift have been? What would his favorite cake flavor be?

Instead ..we gathered friends, family, sponsors, and Dr. Richard Goldstein from Boston Childrens Hospital to discuss “Jude’s Project.” Yes, our baby has an official Project that has been rolled out nationally (and even globally) We broke down SIDS — misconceptions, statistics, whys?, what’s next.

It was no birthday cake with our boy .. but it was the best we can do on this earth without him. And every year we run this race — it is the only thing we can do for our son while we are here.

Happy 10th Birthday to our forever brown haired baby 💙

We will see you all tomorrow at the starting line. But for tonight, hug your babies tight and don’t ever take for granted any year of them blowing out those candles.
