Certified Mantra Meditation Instructor gone rogue with silent sitting
When we believe a thought, it looks and feels like a reality to us. That’s how powerful we are. We can make a thought appear real to ourselves. But that doesn’t make it real. When we hold these narrow ideas, we don’t see the other possibilities, we don’t see the reality.
I want to share a recent example to give some meat to this kind of vague claim, but the one that is top of mind feels a bit too personal right now. I will run it by my spiritual community and see if it still feels in integrity to share 🙏
Love has no religion. Love is not a belief, a hope or a guess. It is a universal reality that cannot be denied by any book or teaching. It is self evident. It isn’t mediated by those ordained with relative authority. It is known directly, by all. It is not righteous. It is not conditional. It is not dependent on any circumstance. It is not a word, not a thought. Love is. 🙏❤️☀️
This life is so so temporary. Forgive quickly and inquire into the truth of who you are. ❤️

What could be more important than realizing that a joyful, loving state is not about the circumstances of your life? This is not a philosophical debate, and thoughts like, “what about people with this situation?” are just objections that keep us from really looking. “What about those people?” Is my own suffering, that I am “doing” on the “inside.” Chasing happiness through things, people and events has never worked. Justifying unhappiness through things, people and events keeps us miserable. There’s another way. 💗

Aging gracefully is not about ensuring the body stays as conventionally beautiful as possible as it ages. It’s about not fighting the inevitable fate of the body and finding peace beyond body-identification.
If I am the body, that means that I die when the body does. Am I the body? Who am I? 🙏❤️

Shifting into happiness without any need for the external to change opens up possibilities that we can’t see when we are stuck on negative stories/thoughts/feelings. More possibilities and a better state means that the external is more likely to move in a positive direction. But uncaused happiness is its own gift. It’s a win win win situation. Every bit of practice helps
Don’t underestimate the power of a smile - your own for yourself, your own for others, others’ for themselves, and others’ for you (where is the separation, anyway?)
One day I was scrolling through my YouTube feed. In that moment, the majority of videos were of world news, and the headlines and thumbnail images were not good. My mind matched the words and images, and I saw/felt painful mental content arise (images, words, movies, emotions).
Side note, it is extremely powerful to begin to notice how the mind works in this way and to have insights and follow up with someone who has mastered this understanding - reach out if you’d like to learn from a genuine teacher.
Then, amidst the sea of negative waves 🌊 I saw a video thumbnail from my teacher, Cindy Teevens, Spiritual Facilitator. She had a smile on her face. The image of her kind face stopped me (the onset of unconscious thinking) in my (it’s) tracks (notice how I differentiate the experience of thoughts/thinking that I am aware of, from who I am). Because of my powers, which Cindy teaches about, I was drawn to that image, and I locked onto it powerfully with my attention.
My body softened and opened, and I smiled. Relief washed over my body, my mind slowed down, and wisdom was available. While I could not change the other videos (I used to say, ‘change the world,’ as I mistook the videos/images on the screen and in my mind as actually being ‘the world,”), I could change my mental/emotional experience in the moment, and choose peace and relief. I released the tension/contraction and became consciously aware of the rest of the space again, including sounds outside…including silence.
I saw a smile, I put all of my powers towards it (learning about these 5 powers of the body/mind is life changing beyond words), and then I smiled. My smile changed my body’s physiology and mind’s psychology - which cannot be separated. I remembered what’s important, I remembered what’s real, and I chose it. With my shifted state, I was able to ripple out positively and affect others in my day, too. This was not a result of trying to change my thoughts or think positively, it was a result of using and recognizing reality, and experiencing the relief that is always available but often overlooked (when looking exclusively at the mind).
A smile is a powerful teacher. A smile is free medicine. A smile does not, in fact, require provocation - it is always available. A (genuine) smile is Love; it is Real ❤️ When we smile, we can’t help but share it - whose smile is it, anyway? 😁
How do we have so much time to argue about who Jesus was or was not, and so little time to turn within and see what his teachings pointed to? 🙏❤️
Don’t be long in dreaming the mind as if it is the reality, and overlooking the reality that is here, with or without the mind. If one is optional and one is not, which one matters? For information on a supportive community with a genuine teacher, for insights, inquiries and pointings that go way beyond head/knowledge, reach out❤️🙏
What is the use of a guided meditation that tells you to “find your calm center,” when it doesn’t tell you how to do that? Guided meditations can be helpful for some people to experience a temporary relaxed state of mind. If you want to know how to body/mind actually works in reality and how to leave the mind alone for lasting and reliable inner peace - I have some resources. It’s much easier than you could think. The only complication is unconscious thinking. Real peace is actually possible and it’s not for special people. ❤️🙏🌈

A met a charming young man from Germany yesterday. Topics about the mind and suffering came up. He described his experience like having many ghosts inside that tell him things, and that he had to listen because some ghosts have important things to say.
I playfully asked him to show me the ghosts, that if they were real, could he put them in my hands? In the past, my spiritual teacher asked me a similar question when I ascribed reality and importance to my thoughts. I am not a teacher, nor was he my student, and I didn’t push the question any further.
He also expressed that suffering is necessary to get to happiness. He told me that he got together with other people, and they all cried a big storm, then felt better together.
Around the world, people have false ideas about how the body/mind works that cause suffering, and lead to new unquestioned beliefs about how suffering must be necessary.
