Duxbury Thrift & Consignment Shop

• In 1973 the organization incorporated

• As the growth of the Shop continued, the need for more space followed. The Shop changed locations a number of times until it found its current home.

Volunteers:

• In 1950, there were two volunteers

• In 1990 the roster expanded to 39 volunteers

• Currently there are 85 volunteers (some are seasonal)

• Volunteer opportunities are always available and new volunteers are welcome

• Shifts are three hours long, Tuesday through Saturday

Scholarships:

• The original scholarship money given in 1950 amounted to $200.

• In 1976, $8000 in scholarships were awarded.

• In June of 2017, over $50,000 in scholarship money was given.

• In Spring 2019, we gave out over $75,000 in scholarships!

• Since 1950, it can be estimated that over $700,000 in scholarship money has been distributed to Duxbury High School graduates.

• A scholarship committee determines the recipients. The guidance department submits numbered (no names are used) documents containing pertinent information.

Consignor Information:

• Annual registration fee is $10 per account.

• One account per family/household

• Accounts inactive (no items consigned) for one year or longer must pay registration fee prior to consigning any items.
