firefighters are responding to numerous calls. 4 calls for medical assistance have come in within an hour. Off-duty firefighters have been recalled and are assisting with medicals.
We know everyone is excited to celebrate the 4th of July this year, but we would like to remind you that fireworks are dangerous and illegal. Make sure you and your family have a safe 4th of July by attending a professional fireworks display.
Between calls today, firefighters assisted the Duxbury Police Department with repairs on their flag pole out front. Firefighters utilized Ladder 1 to get to the pole and complete the repair.
Todays ambulance crew made a quick pit stop on Marshall Street while doing street familiarization on this beautiful day to visit the lemonade stand!

Remember to never charge your phone/tablet/computer under your pillow or on blankets/fabric surfaces. This can block the vents which could cause the device to overheat and, in some cases, get hot enough to burn you or even catch fire.
How many boats does DXFD have for water rescues? They have two boats, one for the ocean and one for small ponds/lakes.
The Duxbury's July 4th Parade has been one of Duxbury's longest-held traditions. The parade was started in the 1890s. Above are some photographs of DXFD in the parade.
The town has been hit by a significant event. Many roads are impassable and we have numerous power outages. We are responding to calls for service and there is another impactful cell moving towards town. Use caution.

Do you know how much water Engine 1 holds? 750 gallons which are 18 bathtubs full of water. It also carries the jaws of life and other firefighting equipment.
At 9:27 last evening the ROCCC took 911 calls for four sailboats in distress during a weather event that moved in quickly. DXFD and the Harbormaster launched boats. DXPD assisted by conducting searches from the shore. All 15 people were safely brought to shore within 45 minutes.
Tonight, the Plymouth County Critical Incident Stress Team honored the retirement of its esteemed past director and retired Duxbury Fire Captain, Bill Wadsworth, celebrating his extraordinary 34 years of unwavering dedication and service.

Do you know what DXFD used to fight fires in 1905? They used horse-drawn pumpers for about 23 years before they were replaced by gasoline-powered engines.

Massachusetts is currently experiencing issues with our 911 system. If you have an emergency, please dial our business lines. 781-934-1553, 781-93 4-1554 and 781-934-1111 will all work and one our dispatchers will be there to assist you. We will advise once the 911 system is back up.
The Duxbury Senior Center will be open this week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 8am - 5pm as a cooling shelter.
Do you know the other name for Ambulance 1? Ambulance 1 is also known as A1. It carries all the life-saving equipment and medications that our Firefighters/Paramedics use in the field.
Today members responded to Christmas Tree Way for a small raccoon who got stuck in a storm drain. Our firefighters were able to remove the raccoon from the drain without injuring the animal and safely release him back into the woods!

DXFD is prepared to handle all types of emergencies. The call volume and call type vary based on the season. These were the calls DXFD responded to in May 2024.
Today members attached with the Plymouth County Technical Rescue Team, responded to Plainville to assist with logistical support for their structural collapse with a trapped horse. The horse was rescued and reunited with its owner.
