Greetings Latitude Family,
I want to start off with a resounding Thank You for all the kind words, hugs, and smiles since our announcement. Everything has been so warmly received and I am so excited to share this space with you on a new level.
While I know most of you, I want to take some time for you to get better acquainted with me. I grew up in a small Iowa town, just outside of Cedar Rapids. I studied Sociology and Psychology at a university in Dubuque before moving to Eau Claire in June of 2007. I have been with my fiance (AJ) for almost 15 years and we live near the East Hill with our siamese cat, Conky. You can find us outside as often as possible during the summers, utilizing our camper for our own little escapes and off-road adventures, or riding around town on our motorcycles (we have quite a collection!).
I started attending Latitude 44 in October of 2017. I was working through a recent loss and was still finding my footing on what exactly I was looking for. This place has a magic within these walls that none of us can deny and it accepted me as I was then and helped me find the footing I was looking for… helping me grow and heal. I became certified to teach the barre classes you hear so much about in March of 2019 and started my teaching journey the April after. I plan to add yoga to my offerings this summer as well; connecting with so many more of you all.
Latitude 44, you have bewitched me with your grace and acceptance, and most of all, love. Thank you all for the continued dedication and support.
Much gratitude,
Reese Wells
Owner of Latitude 44 Yoga Studio

Greetings, Latitude fam! As we near the end of our first decade serving the Chippewa Valley, I am excited to share of a positive transition that has been underway for some time. It is with great joy that I share Reese Wells has stepped forward to lead Latitude 44 Yoga Studio into our next season. Reese has been a valued member of our team for many years and has a deep connection to the community we collectively curate at Latitude.
Yoga, barre, and fitness will remain the studio's focus with key short-term goals to expand all of these offerings. (👉 We are hiring for all teacher positions!) And with Reese at the helm, I am pleased to continue my teaching journey and now also assume a role as mentor for Reese. I anticipate it will remain a smooth transition as we continue forward with many exciting things in development!
It has been an incredible run as a solo-preneur. With your love for what we do, we were able to pave the way and bring Eau Claire its first full-time/full-service + hot yoga studio. With your passion, we outgrew our space 3x. With your dedication, we beat the odds and survived the pandemic. With your trust, we are only getting better. To flow & plié with nearly 10,000 to-date... what a gift!
We appreciate your support and shared excitement for all that is to come. This new season is affectionately being coined 'Latitude 2.0' and oh, the places we'll go! While much will remain the same, Reese's vision and investments in our second home will bring notable enhancements to the member experience.
This journey has been the absolute peak of my past decade. I am forever transformed by our collective growth and eternally thankful to have built so many cherished relationships. This is far from a 'goodbye'... I will still be seeing you in the studio both as teacher and student.
With gratitude,
Amy Erickson

A clean slate gives endless possibilities. Beginning anything (yoga, a new career, a new hobby, acquainting with a new city, a new routine) is accompanied with an energy of being willing to listen, learn, and open to something not yet within conscious awareness. When we begin, we observe more closely, we are more aware of nuances as the mind attempts to piece together the puzzle. And as we get accustomed to the career, hobby, city, sequences of postures, etc. we naturally rely more heavily on our foundations of acquired knowledge and learned rhythms... and subsequently tend to become less porous and more immutable. It’s human nature and this innate psychological process is overall quite serving in life.
There is a great gift in the beginner’s mindset, however, that we lessen access to when getting accustomed and comfortable. Observation and natural curiosity become more distant when we feel we know our way around. If I can toss in a buzzword, being mindful helps offset this shift into unconscious operation.
Whether you’re beginning new or returning for the 1,000th time, a porous nature in your practice is encouraged. Both on and off the mat, harnessing the GOLD in a beginner’s mindset gifts us an expanded view for listening, learning, and building greater awareness. Linger on the guidance of the teacher, the tone of the frazzled co-worker, and the texture of the threads you’re holding so delicately. With a beginner’s mindset, we open ourselves to learning something new today. Maybe that arises through refined patience and compassion, or perhaps it surfaces through greater integrity in the most mundane of shapes. In all its varietals, gold is a medium of transformation.

As we head into the new year and the pressures to ‘resolve’ who you are, we just want to drop a note to say 👉 You’re doing great.
You can do anything you set your mind to when you back it with heart and a belief in your capabilities. As the year draws to a close and we start a fresh chapter in 2024, know that you are the author of your book. It’s written one letter at a time. When you stay focused on what it is you aim to create, stay dedicated to your routine and the things you know support you along this journey, the rhythm of intentional creation comes naturally. Set your intention and simply start to write it through your actions. YES, you can. 💪
Happy Winter Solstice, ❄️
December 21st is the day we make the turn to more sunlight. We are currently at the maximum tilt away from the sun and will gain in light from tomorrow forth (until the summer solstice). For many of us, the past few months have gifted a steadfast gaze to the inner experience. As we welcomed more darkness, there is a natural support for slower and softer selections in life. While this is not a one-size-fits-all experience in the essence of fall quarter, the call was present if we selected to answer.
We have now crested through the season of change and re-design and are pushing forth into a season of tending, nurturing, and preparing ourselves for spring blooms. If nothing more than encouragement to be aware of this opportunity at hand, I ask the question - “𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜?”
A garden doesn’t bloom immediately upon seed reaching soil. It takes time, attention, and repetitive care with the required elements. We are much the same. As we turn into the winter quarter, I hope you tend to the rich soil within you. 𝗘𝘅𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲, 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲.

According to Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, there is an eight fold path to liberation. This is known as the Eight Limbs of Yoga.
The First Limb of Yoga is the Yamas. The Yamas address moral discipline. The five Yamas highlight our interaction with the outside world. The fifth Yama, Aparigraha, speaks to non-attachment: Letting go of the things we cannot control can help bring us to a deeper sense of peace. Surrendering to 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙨 is part of the practice both on and off the mat.
✨ bringing that extra dose of magic to the today ✨
