Rereading a white paper I stumbled across in my files discussing "intentional change" from a complexity (theory) perspective. I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees things from such an arcane viewpoint.

One year ago, the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, was my last day as a full-time W-2 employee. In that last year as an entrepreneur, I've seen a lot of highs and lows, crisscrossed our beautiful nation, learned a lot, took advantage of some cherry opportunities and had a few slip through my fingers. All in a year's work for a small business owner.

Verdict: I think I'll stick with it. Plans are in play right now to ratchet it way up into growth phase.

Life and business are as such. Not all things pass painlessly.

A member of the Cabinet congratulated (Woodrow) Wilson on introducing the vogue of short speeches and asked him about the time it took him to prepare his speeches. He said:

“It depends. If I am to speak ten minutes, I need a week for preparation; if fifteen minutes, three days; if half an hour, two days; if an hour, I am ready now."

This quote has mixed origins and multiple attribution, but no matter who said it and who repeated it, I have found it to be profoundly true, especially in the last seven days. Brevity is a gift for many. For more others, especially in my field, it is a cultivated talent.
