Buenos días. Dios los bendiga.
Over 100 years ago . . . someone planted an oak tree in Minnesota. It was planted to provide shade and beauty. But God had other plans for this oak tree.
Several years later, a girl from Minnesota fell in love with a boy from Nebraska, and they got married. As the girl moved to Nebraska, he brought this oak tree back to Nebraska to remind her of Minnesota. But God had other plans for this oak tree.
Time passed by. Those who planted the oak were long gone, and so were the couple whose marriage the tree had been a part of. And, yes, the oak too, eventually was cut down. But God had other plans for this oak tree.
Instead of being cut down and destined for firewood, a woodworker in Madison, Nebraska, procured the old mammoth 10 foot tall, 4 foot wide tree trunk. He took it to his shop, saving it from the fire, because God had other plans for this oak tree.
For 4 years the woodworker walked by the giant oak. Did God have plans for this oak tree?
This woodworker went on a mission trip to Ysleta Lutheran Mission. While there, he saw the old, weathered, front doors of San Pablo Lutheran Church. It was then that God revealed to this woodworker the big plans He had for this old oak tree.
100 years and 3 states later, God's plan for the old oak tree was manifested. Today, we dedicated and blessed the new, hand-made, beautiful front doors that now adorn San Pablo.
Only God knew the purpose for this oak tree. Instead of ashes, its beauty continues to reflect the glory of its Creator.
If God can do this to an oak tree, ponder what plans and purposes He has for you.
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11

Through YLM , a team of three from Madison, NE committed to come down and replace the front doors of our church.
One of them is a custom woodworker and he designed and built custom doors and today was their first day in removing the old doors, preserving our stain glass window, and preparing the doorway for new custom-made frames.

Yesterday, we were blessed to be in the presence of God at our Divine Service.
