Today Senator Blanco hosted the 4th Annual Women Veterans Day Celebration.

The annual event was moved indoors from its usual location at Old Glory Memorial to EPCC. Walking in you could tell a lot of work went into making those in attendance feel truly recognized and appreciated.

It was great to be surrounded by so many women Veterans, our brothers who have supported us every step of the way, and community partners.

I am truly excited in anticipation for next years event.

El Paso and Fort Bliss team up to help Veterans transition into city jobs

It's part of a U.S. Army program called Partnership for Your Success -- or PAYS -- which allows soldiers completing their service to apply for jobs with the city.

Likewise, the army will post City of El Paso jobs on a national platform, opening them up to transitioning soldiers across the country.

"We like to say that Fort Bliss is El Paso, and El Paso is Fort Bliss, because we truly have a shared community," said Gallagher. "This is just yet another opportunity for us to continue to enhance and continue to grow and nurture that really special and tremendous relationship."

Parent Cafés are judgement free zones where we share experiences and resources while learning from one another. Parent Cafés look to parents as leaders and experts in their own lives. Parent Cafés are free and totally confidential.

91st ANNUAL TONY THE TIGER SUN BOWL GAME

SET FOR A NOON (MT) KICK-OFF ON NEW YEAR’S EVE IN EL PASO, TEXAS

56th consecutive year on CBS

EL PASO, Texas – The Sun Bowl Association, Kellogg’s and CBS announced on Thursday, June 6, 2024 that the 91st Annual Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl Game is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2024, at Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, Texas. The game will kick-off at Noon (MT) and be televised on CBS for the 56th consecutive year, which is the longest running partnership between one bowl game on one network.

“We are all very excited to have the game on our traditional date of New Year’s Eve and expect another great matchup between the ACC and Pac-12 and its legacy schools,” said Sun Bowl Association Executive Director Bernie Olivas. “As in the past, the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl and the events surrounding the game brings in the potential for great economic impact and excitement to our city and everyone in the Borderland.”

The Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl, the second oldest bowl game in the nation, is the second of five bowl games being played on Dec. 31, 2024 and the only bowl game to be televised on CBS.

As summer approaches, the El Paso County Community Service Department is preparing to open Cooling Centers across El Paso County. These centers, situated at the Agua Dulce Community Center, Fabens Community Center, and Canutillo Community Center, will serve as vital places for individuals seeking respite from the heat. They'll be operational from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Sunday, starting June 15, 2024, through August 15, 2024. (Please see below for address to each center)
